Well we have more than just flecks of tea leaves.

We know for a fact that Metcalf has not been picked this week.

I do not understand why people are trying to normalize the missing Metcalf thing as 'having time off' when he is a contracted player and the club have officially announced that their immediate plan is for Metcalf to remain at the Warriors for the rest of the season.

It is highly irregular for a player that has a contract to be given time off to go talk to the opposition and or even more irregular to be overseas in the midst of an NRL season. The November deadline exists for a reason. To spare clubs this exact kind of bullshit.

This situation is Metcalf's doing. The Warriors are under no obligation to let him take time off his job for a week (think about how ridiculous that situations sounds in the real world 'boss I am taking the week off to talk to other companies').

There is something wrong in the State of Denmark.

Well worth speculating over.

And Metcalf doesn't even need to go anywhere for his next contract negotiations, he has an agent, he has the internet.....

Given the curt statement from the Warriors that they will not make further comment until they get clarification from Metcalf's management is heavily suggestive of a Metcalf melt down actually....otherwise Cameron George would have said that Metcalf was taking time off with the clubs blessing.

Waiting for his management....in other words we don't know exactly wot these clowns are up to because they aren't being transparent....stay posted signed Cameron George.
It might be highly irregular, but I’d bet you real money, and a fair bit of it too, that he won’t be running out for either a First Grade or NSW Cup game in a Warriors jersey ever again.

What’s happened has happened incredibly quickly, which tells me that the undercurrents in and around the club over this were pretty major. The club felt it needed to step in quickly to end all the speculation and aggro around the situation and thereby enable the playing team to get on with the job of winning games, leaving all that shit behind them. Forever.

Once the decision was made, to ditch Mets for Boyd, they handled it pretty well. Not giving him game time, when his agent queried that, Boyd's contract was upgraded. The writing was on the wall for Mets’s agent. He stepped in again, said can we look around elsewhere, and quick as a flash the club said yes. This all happened so fast it was almost blink and you’ll miss it, but the steps taken weren’t too hard to interpret. Hats off to the club for acting so quickly and firmly: decision made, steps taken, job done. Just like that. We should be proud.

So we just won’t be seeing Luke Metcalf in a Warriors Jersey ever again. That ship has sailed. Has left the harbour, has reached open waters and is on course for its new destination. Etc etc

Ye fair call.
Just cautious, Our so called 2 best players are being released from contracts. So far he’s only had 2 shots to fight for the 7 fresh off an ACl.

And still cautious on Boyd. He’s had 6 years in the NRL before us, and 10 games with us last year and has been pretty bad through out up until now. I’ve course if he keeps building or even maintaining this form we’d be over the moon.

Also I think the writings been on the wall for a while now with Metcalf looking at his body language. Looking at Boyd and Mets n the sheds pregame they looked like strangers lol.
I`m happy with Boyd doing as he`s told, taking it to the line and feeding the significantly more options than we`ve had in the past. Wingers scoring frequently is now a thing and a pretty good defence too.

Are there suggestions the Bulldogs are considering offloading Matt Burton to us for LM?

there have been whispers for some time the Dogs would like to move on from Burton in the halves, putting him at Centre or maybe Fullback.

Burton doesn't want this and their cap is screwed if they have $2m in the centres with Critta as well.

Early snippets were that Burton to the Bears to play 6 was on the cards but didn't eventuate.

Clearly the Dogs halves pairing of Galvin & Burton is a shocker, Galvin is a 6 and Burton wants to be a 6 but has shown little other than a big boot.

Jury is still out on Boyd for me, but there’s definitely enough there to be hopeful. I just want to see him nail those real clutch moments first — game on the line, pressure kick, field goal, closing out tight contests. We’ve all seen players look the part during a purple patch before it unraveled.

The bigger concern is the uncertainty around CHT as well. If both he and Metcalf aren’t long-term certainties, that’s a lot of responsibility on young halves who are still developing alongside Boyd, who himself still needs a full consistent season under his belt.

And while Boyd and Metcalf looked great against the Knights, it’s fair to acknowledge Newcastle were missing key players like Ponga and Brown too.

**just heard Dave Riccio on NRL360, CHT will re-sign**
Bro did you not see Tanah intentionally kicked into a Knights player exactly at the right angle so the ball would drop to Leka to give him a clear run to the line to score 👀

I'd just add the AUS podcaster exactly a week ago was the first to mention him/his agent's been talking to the AUS clubs, so we're just seeing it coming to the surface and through official channels.

There should be a thread for betting on if he'll leave now or end of the year, I'm still skeptical they don't go the diplomatic way and he plays out the season here, but for the team culture and chemistry which affect onfield performances, it's better he leaves like Walker.

So Burton's apparently on around $800K by this time of his deal, and wants to stay in the halves?

Anyone on the market that we could grab this or next year? GA to FB to sign Timoko? GA/Ali/Pompey centres and stick with TT/CNK? We have 3 wingers on our books. Getting an outside back mid season will it mess up the defense and flow as he has to learn the system?
