Team List Sharks v Warriors - [Round 14, 2025]

So basically we are left guessing again what Andrew Webster will do? Ali vs Capes at centre is the big unknown here. As with others here, Capes has my vote of confidence. Most important feature for our centres is defense and him and Pompey are probably our best defensive option. He's handled Holmes, Staggs, Farnworth with relative ease. Don't imagine he'll have trouble managing Jesse Ramien who has been out of form all year according to the sharks forum.

It might not line up that way on game day but I actually love the second row pairing of Marata/Leka. That is our most damaging backrow pairing on attack. Did a real job on the broncos the last time our back row lined up that way with both wreaking havoc. Can see both causing nightmares if we run them at their halves, neither of which are known for their defence.

Either way, it's a solid team that can win on Saturday. Our pack without JFH/Barney held their own against Canberra, who are much stronger in the middle than Cronulla. So we'll be fine with JFH against Cronulla. Gameplan has to be to bomb to their wingers (especially Hiroti) who have been heavily exposed their last two games against Coates and Tupou. Katoa is coming off a three month layoff without even a pre-season, so he will be very rusty. I'm not convinced he's going to play, with an outside back (Atkinson) on their bench.

Eye opener for the Ali die hards here. Sounds like he has genuine things he needs to show improvement in before he's considered for first grade again.

Still cant believe the Barney news, always thought it would be a Metcalf injury that derailed our season.

Hopefully Ale can get onto the bench
So if the last bench spot was between TSS and ALE, who is your man.
TSS looks first grade ready and gives me Sam Rapira vibes.
Ale has been brutal in NSW Cup, was a victim of Covid when new to league and now has the miles on the clock and the smarts.

Sounds like there will be no last minute naming of Ali to centre to me. They want him to get some reps in at reggies.
In amongst the list of his work ons will be running decoy lines more consistently and knowing when he needs to punch on to the ball. And thirdly, IMHO, to go looking for the ball more. Would be three work ons I would have given him had I been the coaching staff. I think his defence has been acceptable for first grade. 87.4% tackle efficiency is useful. Not as good as Berry but average for a centre is around 83-85 so he is a bit north of that. One thing they won't fault him on is effort. He doesn't drop his lip and just needs to become more professional with what he does off the ball when we are on offence.
With that much skill and raw power, he has to go looking for work. Gagai is a legend at that.

Interesting to see Bunty not even in the squad, don’t know what’s happening but I am a bit sick of him playing under 20 minutes and that’s it, increases load on others

Was surprised to see Ale over Bunty though, hope he gets swapped for TSS for some offense, especially if Leka’s starting again

Would really prefer Laban to start, the Leka/Demi combo off the bench was amazing, add in Ale 😂🔥

Ford’s position when he runs out will tell us if he’s staying put from the bench or he’s our new Barney for the next few months

Cape will shut down their centre although it sounds like they’re a bit useless this year? 😂 Are we wasting a trump card there?

Ali is probably there as centre/wing injury cover, most disappointing thing wasn’t even lack of ball involvement. We missed the kick chases vs Raiders, could be a different game if we pin them down inside the 20 instead of starting from 30m and kept letting Fogarty bomb us. Probably a fitness thing he needs to work on

Maybe that’s why Cape is at centre, not just to shut down their backline plays but to pin their back 3 inside the 20 that Barney and Berry were doing

Indeed. Some of the elite centres show up on both sides of the ruck looking for work. Ali would not do that at this stage which is understandable being a second year player but he has been going missing. Roger on the other hand seems to pop up and about different places and even on both sides of the ruck. But he is a veteran so only using him to make a point (and agree with you)

Shut down AFB and we win the middle. It's really that simple. Like us in previous years, the sharks pack is really a one-man show: if you look at the stats, the only one that routinely makes 100+ meters per game is AFB. Looks like Ford actually makes more average running meters than every other middle in the sharks pack. We really dodged a bullet not signing Hamlin-Uele because he hasn't developed as many thought he would have. No Hazleton and Rudolf for this game is great for us. Sharks were flying early on with a forward rotation of AFB, Hazleton, Rudolf. Oregon Kaufusi really looks like their version of Bunty.

He's quite an intimidating presence out there for opposing sup42 centres and wings. I wouldn't want him flying at me in one of his trademark missile launches. When he's running for the tryline and does those crazy eyes there's a bit of Mad Jack about him, I imagine that puts defenders in two minds, he's one of those guys you're never quite sure just how mad he is.

Gee I had forgotten the best part....Capewell folding kients.

It is really weird to watch, he doesn't make it look as dramatic as a Matai hit on a center, but he does more damage.

Dudes just buckle to the ground and don't get up for a while or they look like they ran into the invisible under the dome from a bad Stephen King adaptation.

It is like we signed the White Ruben Wiki.
