Team List Sharks v Warriors - [Round 14, 2025]

It would be cool to see Ale get a run this weekend. I think he's played well at cup level this year.

I would be happy with an all forward bench this weekend.

It sounded like Ali was demoted, so I hope Capewell keeps the centre role this weekend.
Webby could still pull a switch with Ali but it hasn't really been his style, except for the odd sneaky debut and injury forced change.

Sounds like there will be no last minute naming of Ali to centre to me. They want him to get some reps in at reggies.
In amongst the list of his work ons will be running decoy lines more consistently and knowing when he needs to punch on to the ball. And thirdly, IMHO, to go looking for the ball more. Would be three work ons I would have given him had I been the coaching staff. I think his defence has been acceptable for first grade. 87.4% tackle efficiency is useful. Not as good as Berry but average for a centre is around 83-85 so he is a bit north of that. One thing they won't fault him on is effort. He doesn't drop his lip and just needs to become more professional with what he does off the ball when we are on offence.

Bunty is named in the Koe Cup team
Wow! I wonder if Webby is trying to get youth in there to replace Barnett's aggression and energy, rather than a worker like Bunty.

It would be sad to think Bunty's time might be coming to an end, but I guess that is the price of some great youngsters coming through. I still like the way Bunty mops up everything that moves during the tough periods in games.

Looks like they think Capes is a safer centre option than Ali at this point then. I like it, Sharks OB's are dangerous, I feel more reassured we can dominate them with Capewell out there.

Capewell definitely is a safer option than Ali (and Berry for that matter) and offers more in attack than either of those two as well (never thought I would type that but it is true, Capewell resting out wide has seen him hit the line with pace and set up scoring opportunities for Metcalf.

Even though he is not the long term answer, I would be locking him in for the remainder of the year, next year he probably will be too slow to do it.....might as well squeeze the last drops out of the old lemon *unless of course our young centers go Ruben Wiki on the NSW cup.

I have always liked Bunty but in the faders game he was totally gassed and let a few through.

I think It's Webby setting up a charge to solidify a top 2 spot ..... sorting out the players he believes can do it... if it means more time in the mighty NSW cup as some of our fellow forumers say, then so be it.

SJ said recently our attack will come, personally, I've seen glimpses of it Mets on the left and right, the last game off loads and many other facets of play in past games. If this all comes together, be great to have a complete team... to compliment our defence resilience...

Webby has picked a team he believes will give the Sharks a headache... so IMO the bigger picture matters most... but shit we pull this off this week... who knows... let's gone....

He's quite an intimidating presence out there for opposing centres and wings. I wouldn't want him flying at me in one of his trademark missile launches. When he's running for the tryline and does those crazy eyes there's a bit of Mad Jack about him, I imagine that puts defenders in two minds, he's one of those guys you're never quite sure just how mad he is.

I'm like you, mate. If you'd told me at the beginning of the year that Capes is our first back-up centre to Berry and Pomps, I'd've called the loony bin truck for Sup collection. But our forwards so far have done such a good job of controlling the middle of the park that Capes' lack of pace hasn't really mattered. His positioning at centre seems the business so far - maybe experience and game awareness gives him a half-second advantage that a younger, otherwise faster and more dynamic centre doesn't quite have yet. I still prefer Ali close to the line, but clearly the bosses are wanting to see some improvement from him in the technical stuff.

Capes is high on the missed tackle count, but I've been looking back at a few games and quite a few of his missed tackles have been secondary efforts whilst playing in the forwards, trying to effect a tackle that someone else might've been expected to make but didn't because they were a metre too far away and weren't scrambling fast enough. Presumably the analysts and coaches are seeing that.
