International New Zealand Kiwis

Pacifica/Maori ≠ Kiwis
Thought it was 60% Pacifica/ Maori?

Anyway. We want more depth with more regular first graders.

Perth/ PNG/ STH Island will help longer term?

Edit : 45% Pacifica/ Kiwi. 55% when including Aboriginal/ Torres Straight

2nd NZ team would be huge for Kiwis depth.

E.g There's only limited starting halfback gigs in the NRL, if two of them were being fed into by Kiwi pathways it'd be huge for us.

We're way too reliant on getting lucky with Aussie clubs developing Kiwis for us.

Kevin Tamati is on the TV programme,,Restaurant That Makes Mistakes. This is the series based around people with dementia running a restaurant- unfortunately KT is one of the 10 volunteers who has early onset dementia.

Hiku now facing 5 weeks on the sideline for touching an unconscious player in the SL GF.

He was part of the tackle and noticed the player not moving, so moved his arm to check on him, then motioned to the sideline for the medic.

What an absolute joke this game is becoming.

Am I the only one quietly happy that he may be unavailable to play?

I haven't seen the incident. But if it is how you described that is rough.

Often you see a player tackle a player high and they put their hand up to acknowledge it. Then the ball carriers teammates decide to protect their teammate so the tackler can't check on the guy as he ends up needing to protect themselves from the incoming angry teammates.

If a player is unconscious you want players checking on them, alerting the medics they need to get onto the field.

Didn't we have a player in the NRL take out another players mouth guard this year? I think Dylan Walker may have done that. I am pretty sure that was praised not punished.

To me, this is good sportsmanship.

That is fucking ridiculous. Obv in some cases, you cannot have a player touching an injured guy, mainly with head/neck injuries but it's not like he tried to pull him off the ground, sit him up, or roll him over. He moved his arm to check if the lights were still on.

From a Kiwis POV though, 11 of the 21 were already returning from last year, and 15 were in the squad the year before. Bringing Hiku in as an experience play feels unnecessary, he's 0 chance of playing the WC and is just blocking the chance for someone that could be involved in the WC getting their start

The SJ call up makes sense in that there is literally no one else out there; you would be dipping into reserve-grade halves if not. But with centres/outside backs we have Pompey and Ali already in NZ to pick from, not to mention the guys here and there in Aussie.
