yeah I don't get the intense hate he is getting atm. I thought overall he guided us around the park well.

His massive boot is an asset for our game style of boxing in our opposition inside their half. He did this supremely well against Wests the whole game last week and I thought he did it last night as well for extended periods. He was just lacking a little bit of polish at the end of some of our attacking sets. But this is his 2nd game in over a year. People putting the boot in (like Moley) are being unreasonable.

He slots all of those goal kicks and field goals 9 times out of 10 as we have seen all year in cup. He'll be revved to go against next week against his old joint.
Someone else pointed it out earlier I think, but for me it was his total loss of composure that I was most concerned about in the kickoff dead to add to the missed opportunities. There was nothing wrong with a his game apart from that in all aspects and like mentioned his goal kicking was important, but in his position that’s what you rely on is someone to ice those moments. CHT has been mentioned, but we know he also struggles in those moments. It wouldn’t be fair to let this define him and he deserves further opportunities but I was also concerned by his body language when Halasima scored that try he was reluctant to join in in celebrations and think this would have really knocked his confidence. Was good to see JFH around him and CHT came back from disappointment last year in the same position looking solemn in the dressing rooms, fortunately though for Boyd Halasima saved his blushes

Let's be honest. What we saw this week was Parra really give it to Canberra. Dragons outplay the Dogs but have their hearts crushed at the last moment. And then Newcastle really give it to us tonight. These lower ranked teams are going to play the games of their lives against top 4 teams. We, like Dogs and Canberra, almost got caught out tonight. Melbourne did.

This is going to be the dynamic for the rest of the year. This was a wake up call of what can happen if we drop off even a little bit. Tits, Phins, Dragons, Parra. They will all be gunning for us. We can't do this again because we will be embarrassed by someone. I'd rather use up our 4 pt buffer on the dogs game then one of the minnows.
I don't like our chances of staying top4 (and let's face it, that is where the GF winner usually comes from) if we don't make some changes to the current line up.
eg Leka replacing Luke in the centres, Healy on the bench. We need speed and sure defence out wide.

The thing we all keep forgetting with youth is they are so quick and agile at that age. We need to capitalise on this. That explosive speed off the mark with his size makes him an unstoppable force close to the line.
I looked at his debut game last season. He was even quicker off the mark and has since bulked up alittle more.

Leka is a great match up against the older legs. I was calling it yesterday- get him in front of Gagai and he’ll burn him to shreds. Mission accomplished!!! 🔥

Webby needs to find him space to run

Really like the result as I feel we were on a hiding to nothing regarding the narrative. If we thrashed them it would have been Warriors defeat a team who were lucky to field a team and if we lost it would have been Warriors downed by a team lucky to field a side. Feel like all that has been overshadowed by Halasima’s brilliance
Sorry everyone
The way they played............Anyone who had the shits the day before could no way play with that intensity for 80 minutes
Think about how you feel after having the shits yourself
A load of shit from the media in my eyes

he seemed quite happy in the sheds celebrating with the team afterwards. You are right though he seemed a little dejected in the moment and the bashing he is getting online doesn't help. Dogs and Tits fans are trying to compare him to Sexton after that one performance which seemed grossly unfair.

I think there are enough leaders in our team to keep his spirits high. This is something he never had on the GC where he was quite frankly thrown to the wolves after every mixed performance he had up there. We have the right environment for him to succeed but he needs time. I think he'll prove to being the game managing half we need to do something serious at the back end of this year.

Am I the only one thinking just keep giving the ball to Boyd until he gets one at the time? I never thought about CHT/TMM/TT or whoever. Get it done or it's one of those meltdown nights.

Hope this turns his career around, CHT and Hynes really are the one guys I've seen in sport not become a hero in the games later on.

I thought his mid/long kicks were a bit flat and long too, like our chase couldn't get there in time to put pressure or compete.

Cast your mind back to 2023 SJ. He was rubbish at the start of the season.

Sometimes these players come with a bit of baggage and just need a bit of Webby time to shake that shit off.

I have faith in Boyd, if Webby has faith in Boyd. He sees a lot of what we don't and I'm sure that if he (and the team) is backing Tanah, then we are going to see a turn around in the clutch department.

To me it looked like using Ali at fullback was about helping him solve his disengagement problem from the game when the opposition are in possession.

As others posted he has played fullback before.

As such it was a stroke of genius. Forcing him to watch the opposition is a bloody good idea, and making him the hero of tackling situations was another bloody good idea about making him fullback.

He also gets a global view of the game that he is missing at Center.

It seemed to work.

He stepped it up.
Ali actually lined up at 6 didn't he?
