I reckon we will tooWouldn’t be surprised to get panthers, broncos, storm and roosters twice next year.

And don't forget Kane Evans never won it eitherFully agree. Ponga will forever be amongst the prestigous winners such as Jack Wighton & Matt Orford. SJ will remain with the peasants like Fittler, Meninga & Lockyer who also never were awarded one

Anasta can blow them all. We'll blow them over and take their spots at the top
And rob their Dally M points on the way
Pity they don't have a "biggest cock up" of the year award for the worst reffing or bunker decision.... would be one of the popular categories! No Ref of the Year awarded. @inruin must be sad.
What a stupid stupid system to judge player of the year. Double Points voted by ex players. ok...
Wonder if SJ’s jab at them after a game earlier in the season went against him.Pity they don't have a "biggest cock up" of the year award for the worst reffing or bunker decision.... would be one of the popular categories!![]()
In his day & age people hold too much value in highlights & point scoring statistics (been guilty of this myself). I was debating someone earlier who thought Bradman Best put in a better performance than Ponga in Round 26 because he scored 2 tries (ignoring the fact he contributed to conceding one) & Ponga didn't play 80 minutesThe system is so flawed it’s not funny. Even AFB outscored Hass.
Yeah, what they did to SJ is crazy. The guy is human and has feelings. It was like "ha ha jokes on you, sucker". For many weeks the media have been pushing Payne Haas and SJ. Everyone saying SJ is the dally m. So it pretty surprising that it didnt even come down to SJ v Payne.Just saw ponga on tv this morning. He said he emailed the nrl to say he wasnt going to go to the awards and then they rang him up to tell him... (why a wry smile) that "he was in contention...." well he already knew he was in contention, so they obviously told him he had won. Then they put sj through the whole charade that he was a done deal before pulling the rug out from under his feet in the last second while filming a close up of his reaction.
Farkin rude I reckon.
and the fact that SJ was leading up to the last moment while sharing points with team mates (unlike ponga) shows how dominant he has beenIt's simply a flawed system, I feel for Kalyn as he's undoubtedly subject to reading everyone's comments on who "should've" won which isn't fair.
To even suggest he's been the very best player of 2023 purely on the basis he only collected the maximum points on offer for single handedly carrying the Knights through their 11-game run due to the fact nobody else in the Knights team challenged him while SJ shared points with other great performers in our side shows a massive flaw in the voting system.
It's supposed to be the best of the best throughout the season, not the "well nobody else in his team were worthy at the time" awards.
I genuinely think Kalyn is a generational talent, but not worthy of this title in 2023.
I'll take any of them except the Panthers in round 2 at Mt Smart thanks (backing up from Vegas)Wouldn’t be surprised to get panthers, broncos, storm and roosters twice next year.
100% we are going to get a tough draw.I reckon we will too
He got sin binning of the year in 2021 didn't he?And don't forget Kane Evans never won it either
Given that from memory the 24 membership is for 11 home games I think you can ink in that Magic Round will be a home game100% we are going to get a tough draw.
What I want to know is will magic round be a home game again?
Surely they should rotate it each year otherwise the same teams get disadvantaged.
The funniest comment I've seen is "biggest bunker blunder of the season".Facebook NRL page promoting Ponga’s win is full of comments from other teams fans saying SJ was robbed.
We signed an agreement for financial reasons & have been the "home" team every Magic weekend to date. I'm not sure of the length of contract though100% we are going to get a tough draw.

It’s to do with ladder position as to what teams we draw twice. We can’t keep complaining about magic round being a home game- we keep taking the option to get the gate $100% we are going to get a tough draw.
