Seriously, there’s a lot to like about the changes and to give credit, Labour proposed SOME of the changes as well. Seems to hit at the worst issues currently.
If Labour lovers want to complain about National ignoring them, you only have to go back to Covid when Labour completely shut the opposition out of what should have been a collaborative response, or at least consulting over serious changes. National was very vocal about this at the time and now lefties don’t like political utu?
The changes are needed 100% but some of them would already be in place if National had supported the changes when Labour was in; they are going further which is probably also needed but it shows both parties are about scoring political points as opposed to standing for something and supporting it even if someone else is in power at the time.
Even the Greens bestie, Hipkins has called her stupid, unwise and totally out of touch.
Greens after Gol should shut up about any views about police for the next few years. Just not a good look for what’s becoming a party of the criminals…
As poorly as the coalition has been, they are 100x better than any parties involving the current versions of the māori Party or the Greens which appear to favour anarchy.
History would just repeated as we descend into racial division, high crime and a general breakdown in society like before the last election.
I feel sorry for Hipkins trying to put together a viable alternative for 2026. Good luck. I don’t like your chances

- Defend Gol shoplifting.
- Defend green MPs saying they would rather be in a dark alley with a gang member than a policeman
- Defend saying the average NZer is scared of the police.
- Defend incorrectly saying everyone in jail isn’t violent
- defend being anti gang patch ban
- defend the comments ‘Some of these gangs are doing quite good things in our community’
Back in the real world, average NZers are happy crime rates are recovering from the the last time the greens were in Govt.

You lead, prove your statements with evidence please. You have to actually read the articles/statements made in context - not just headlines.
Because if you believe "Greens = pro gangs and crime" then you are an even bigger idiot than I already thought you were.

Most of it was in the article I posted above, but here you go. Now some of you guys defend these nutters instead of saying they are just misunderstood:
- Gol shoplifting:
If you don’t know about this then you have been living under a rock
- green MPs saying they would rather be in a dark alley with a gang member than a policeman:
To be clear I have no problem with parties being advocates for the certain demographics (poor, criminals, etc)
But it crosses the boundary when people make shit up to actively attack and undermine the police and justice system. Need to be called out, not defended:
- Claiming someone was put in jail for shoplifting $12 of items
- Salvation Army told her police were waiting for homeless people to leave their spots before throwing out their property.
This isn’t advocating for change, this is a anti police mindset.

As I suspected would happen. You're not reading the articles at all. Just pulling quotes out of context.
None of this stuff backs up Greens are pro gangs and crime.
They are one of the few political parties trying to look out for marginalised groups and are trying to create policy that address underlying causes of crime, homelessness etc etc.

pretty clear what to make of it, i thought.
the photo (not sure if can be posted here?) is apparently from 2023 but completely unacceptable any time any place. especially from someone either in or with aspirations to be in parliament.
undoing a lot of hard work by others to be taken seriously and be treated with respect.
