As for welfare dependency - as with all things I'm sure it's complex. With generational gangs, drugs, alcohol, entrenched racism, neoliberalism enforcing these structures, all manner of things it will require time, effort, care, willingness from all in New Zealand, rethinking of our societal contracts, rewiring of the current and entrenched narrative that rules the boomer's world etc etc etc etc etc etc.
Which doesn't fit with the right, or centre of New Zealand.
So sure, Michael Laws can dogwhistle all he likes on a dogwhistler's platform.
