Sports Auckland 2024 A-League Team

Fair

Not gonna lie
I’m a bandwagon fan
If they were losing 0-6 no way any of us would be following…
However my interest in the sport has grown leaps and bounds since they started playing
I’m the same, watched the odd Phoenix game if I stumbled across it or a finals game etc. Watched the inaugural Auckland game and the derby’s but found myself checking out the minis also which is more attention than I’ve ever given the sport

Im not a soccer fan but was always interested in how Pheonix went. My interest in Auck FC has really piqued with the start they had had. Do they play an attractive style of football?

And most importantly, does anyone know if the latest football manager has Auckland FC? @mrblonde i think you play it right?

Edit - Auckland FC and womens leagues coming in FM 2025 due for release in March 2025.

The Pheonix definitely play the more attractive style of football. Auckland FC seem a bit better coached tactically and are scarping hard.
The A League most definitely deserves it's ranking of 52nd league in world football. The difference between the top 20 leagues and the A League is pretty stark.

The rivalry is so great for NZ though.

A league about English league one level. Not that bad really.

I think they will fade away once other teams work out their structures, kinda already happened in the weekend with a 0:3 thrashing. Phoenix should be the one with potential to win it, but not helped by signing a couple of mid Japanese midfielders who get physically outmuscled in this league while not having elite silky skills of their national team counterpart.

Will certainly be tougher now that the blueprint to beating them is out there. But still a very strong side and will make top 4 easy.

Phoenix on the other hand are playing dreadfully and have no depth whatsoever. 2 of their imports are the worst 2 in the league (Ball and Oluwayemi).

I was at the AFC game Saturday. Sat in the Sth stand a couple of rows above the Port supporters. Great atmosphere. The Lilliworld Bar was chocka’s pre game. Shoulder to shoulder. Several brave Nix supporters in there was well.
My 18yr old proudly wore his old school blue Wahs top. Crowd was pretty full and heard they had 27k in there. Thought Wahs sold out repeatedly last season with 25k??

AFC have opened the North Bank for the big games for people to sit on

I think they segregate some of the away fans in Australia as they have had issues a few times.
But in NZ - give me a break.
the "I don't feel safe" and that photo as evidence... lol
Surely it’s tongue in cheek?
All the sports games I’ve been to in Aus will have an ‘away’ section, it’s more to have some fellow fans to sit with for atmosphere if you’re an away supporter rather than an enforced rule. Don’t often sit in the away section as they’re generally the shittest seats but when I have there’s always plenty of home fans in there too, particularly if it’s a higher attendance.
Funniest one I had was going to a Soccer match in England where u had to declare the team you followed, then after the game there were barriers for a km or so directing you in the opposite direction to the opposition fans.

I'm pretty sure the tweet is genuine and the guy think's it an actual issue (which I think it's really, really not).

It's definitely an issue in the actual football cities across the world, but Auckland vs Wellington and not feeling safe, you have to laugh.
