Impressive victory but the passion from the nation is definitely missing.Glad we won it. I use to be really in it, but when we decided to defend it offshore I lost 99% of that interest
The amount of taxpayers & rate payers money that went into getting the viaduct ready for the Americans cup , tnz victory is a bit hollow
Would depend on how greedy Dalton is feelingStuff

Helen Clark of the opinion we should throw a whole lot more at it to host the next one like her government did. Would the investment be work it, or do we have too many internal things we could use that money towards?
For sure. Not a fanWould depend on how greedy Dalton is feeling
Still great to be the best though, look forward to the cup coming home one day..Impressive victory but the passion from the nation is definitely missing.
I reckon he has a done a superb job of this campaign to defend the Cup and organize the venue. There will be a lot that we don't understand as to why it wasn't here but what has been done has been done well!!Would depend on how greedy Dalton is feeling
I don't disagree with you but I would love to see the Cup defence held in NZ.I reckon he has a done a superb job of this campaign to defend the Cup and organize the venue. There will be a lot that we don't understand as to why it wasn't here but what has been done has been done well!!
I agree, love to see the Cup defence here but as I understand it, there is a cost to hold the event and mount a campaign that couldn't be guaranteed from NZ so it was decided to go overseas. However, the opportunities are far greater in number and return in Europe than we realize here in NZ..I don't disagree with you but I would love to see the Cup defence held in NZ.
It's only money that has seen it go overseas
Which, to be fair to Dalton, he totally acknowledges and accepts.yeah not a great look in todays economic climate, millionaires racing their yachts while people struggle to meet basic needs.
Everyone would John Nick but the financial hurdles are too steep at the momentI don't disagree with you but I would love to see the Cup defence held in NZ.

Why are the financial hurdles too steep?Everyone would John Nick but the financial hurdles are too steep at the moment
As an aside when did the All Blacks last defend any of their world cup titles in NZ?
If you want to win the thing then you need the $$$ (upwards of $150-$200m) for your campaign and the team can’t raise that in NZWhy are the financial hurdles too steep?
Is the reality that TNZ are offered more money to take the defence off shore & ignoring the fact that Auckland has already been set up for the competition
Any breakdown on what the team members and managers earn??If you want to win the thing then you need the $$$ (upwards of $150-$200m) for your campaign and the team can’t raise that in NZ
There's was talk around the time that Dalton announced that the defence was going overseas, that more than enough money was raised to have the defence in NZ. The problem was that the donors in the yachting circles wanted Dalton to open the accounting books. Dalton said no and that was that.If you want to win the thing then you need the $$$ (upwards of $150-$200m) for your campaign and the team can’t raise that in NZ
