This a shame that after so many years speedway will no longer feature at Western Springs - many of the same ‘protesters’ living locally are also opposed to an even older sports organisation … Richmond Rovers RLFC

This will be Carlaw park we never had.
I see a full house each time they play
It’s gonna be a vibe.
Excited.

I’ve just returned home after attending my first Auckland FC game.
A totally different crowd to the Warriors - more families, youngsters, ethnically different- way more white faces, quieter crowd - apart from the Port.
I did read that there were 13000 there today - I was surprised it was that many .The rain would have kept people away.
Those Port supporters are magic - how do you get those types of fans to the Warriors ?
Im not a great soccer fan but I did enjoy it - a friend got free tickets - of the 4 of us there , 3 are long term Warriors season ticket holders and most of our ‘talk’ centred around the Warriors in 2025 as well as Akld stadiums.

Im at the derby tonight and im not gonna lie, the match day experience is much better than the warriors. Entertainment, crowd engagement etc has been a 10/10 and it’s only half time. I guess it helps having an American owner. The yanks definitely know a thing or two about match day experiences from a fan perspective. Only thing I can question is the authenticity of the fans.

I guess we won't know how hardcore the crowd is until they've lost a few and/or are out of contention. Clearly most of The Port lot are the real deal.

One other advantage is that the A-League is in summer, I guess. That said, when we played the Rabbitohs in the pissing rain in 2023, we were 8th at he time and got 22,000 in; last week in the pissing rain - and not especially cold rain - with Auckland FC 5 from 5, they got 13,000.

Its definitely one of the sporting stories of the year. And what an amazing start to build a club off.

But as you say the truth of the matter will be seen when they go through a lean patch.

It is a bit cringe the Port chant in a British accent...

They may be bandwagoner fans at these games but you can't denie that auckland still have to go out there and win, and they way they are winning and started this quest, who doesn't want to get behind that!

I say love it for what it is right now and go for the ride. Imagine if the warriors came out in 95 and won 6 straight, what that would have done for the club?

They have most certainly got my attention.

It is going to be a great rivalry, but I just can't get behind the Auckland team with the bullshit Paulsen signing. I enjoy watching football, but the dirty stuff behind the scenes is pretty gross.

Ah well, the Phoenix can hold their head up high. They did the right thing by letting him go to follow his Premier League dream. From an All Whites perspective it would have been good for him to be getting a football education with the Bournemouth squad, but cest la vie.

I'm assuming he's saying that because Auckland previously had Knights and Kings and both flopped. If Auckland FC were 2-4 would this crowd be the same. It's like the Warriors bandwagoners.
Fair

Not gonna lie
I’m a bandwagon fan
If they were losing 0-6 no way any of us would be following…
However my interest in the sport has grown leaps and bounds since they started playing
