  • Former Governor General Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy appointed Climate Change Commissioner.
  • She replaces Dr Rod Carr, who finished as climate change commissioner last week.
  • Felicity Underhill and Devon McLean will also join Climate Change Commission.

Former Governor General Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy has been appointed to lead the Climate Change Commission.
Reddy’s new role was confirmed on Monday by Climate Change Minister Simon Watts, following the conclusion of Dr Rod Carr tenure last week.
The Climate Change Commission is responsible for holding the Government to account for reaching responding to climate change and reducing the emissions which fuel it.

It also provides advice to the Government about policy.

Reddy worked as a corporate lawyer and went on to hold a series of governance roles in the private and public sector, including leading the Film Commission.
She served as Governor General for five years, starting in 2016.
Following that role, in which she saw three prime ministers, Reddy was elected chairperson of the New Zealand Rugby Board - from the end of 2022. In October, she confirmed she would not be standing for re-appointment.

Carr, in an exit interview with The Post last week, shared some advice for his successor.
“Stay the course. This is a marathon,” he said.
“There will be different choices made by governments — that is their right.
“There will be different consequences for those choices, and it is for the commission to help all New Zealanders understand the consequences of the choices that are being made.”

Watts said Reddy was starting her role as Climate Commissioner with an “extensive and distinguished career in law and governance”.
He said she would start in the role from February.
Joining Reddy on the Commission were new appointees Felicity Underhill and Devon McLean. Both bring expertise in decarbonisation and forestry governance, replacing outgoing commissioners Catherine Leining and Professor James Renwick.

Interesting appointment...

Spare some sympathy for the 14 others that were injured during this incident

Do you only side with the unfortunate “downtrodden”?
After the countless carjackings, motorbike gangs, lawlessness, ram raids aggravated burglaries etc, a lot of NZers have lost patience with lawbreakers
Great logic - because you're sick of lawlessness it makes it fine to make distasteful jokes about a kid dying.

Wrong.

Business interests including a $12m per year royalty from Rio Tinto & her dad's personal wealth.
Bro give it up. You're completely wrong and embarrassing yourself.

When Lang Hancock died in 1992, he left behind personal debts of $72.8 million, according to a report which continues a legacy of intrigue surrounding the West Australian iron ore magnate's financial affairs.

"Bro" - the embarrassing part is you completely failing to understand what "self made" is...

Or why the general public may not like Gina Reinhart.

1. Lang Hancock came from a wealthy family
2. Gina Reinhart inherited the business, his personal wealth and royalties when her father died in 1992

Yes she improved the fortunes of the business - but that is most definitely not "genuinely self made" Dumbfuck.

3. Go and get educated about the Hancock families treatment of traditional land owners, the flora and fauna act & fighting the government to pay tax to understand why the general public might not be so keen to buy into the fan fiction you seem desperate to buy into.

Self Made lol.

The left have a complete disregard for the trail of countless victims, only valuing “human life” it belongs to a criminal. The left don’t value the human life that car jackets threaten at knifepoint
Seems a hardened criminal holds more value to them than an unborn child.. Go figure 🤷‍♂️

Are you sure you went to private school?

Don’t worry, now I know the background, I can understand why you have such a chip on your shoulder about private school kids

It is just a projection

is negative $75m more or less than zero?

Youre mistaking my lacking of caring for lack of knowledge. "traditional land owners" killed, enslaved, and raped each other. As for "the flora and fauna act", thats a complete myth that only retarted lefties cling to.

gO AnD gET edUCTateD.

So can you be "Genuinely Self Made"

When your Dad comes from a rich family?

And you inherit your Dad's personal wealth, business and business royalties?

That's right - you can't.

Imagine being a "David Goggins saved my life / Gina Rinehart is genuinely self made" so wholeheartedly.
I'm cringing

See, look at how upset you get?

But laughing about a kid dying is carte blanche.
Are you trying to drum up some sympathy for the parents of the "kid" that clearly raised a monster? Sorry, I don't have much sympathy. If they actually parented this kid, this wouldn't have happened.

As an aside, where do you stand on the healthcare CEO murdered the other day? Precious human life? Or justice?

Lots of people on social media backing the guy shooting the insurance executive.

Class war? Sticking it to the 1%?

Continuation of the simmering undercurrent of disharmony experienced by many… where does it all lead us to?

When you have nothing to lose, there’s no risk in being extreme. With society currently, we seem to be creating more of those with nothing to lose.

The thing is we know nothing about the kid, the parents or the kids upbringing.

I'm more just pointing out it's a bit of a fuckwit that makes a joke about a child dying in the society he lives in... on a Warriors fan forum.
