She can't be any worse than the ex market gardener Labour appointed , then had a manage out.
honestly, if you can't see past your partisan blinkers at the creeping authoritarian fascism in this country, the destruction of democratic rights, regression in all areas, then I don't think my comments are going to make much difference apart from entertainment. Which is starting to kinda lose it's shine for me. There's a shift in rhetoric here too, like the slow boiling frog analogy, where things shift further right and get worse, and justifications or acceptance starts popping up for that as well.
If anyone ever gets the chance please visit this museum in Munich -
https://www.nsdoku.de/en/about-us/the-nsdoku - it documents the rise of the nazi party in Germany, and the parallels today. And fuck me it's scary. Trump is doing this in real time. Same with Putin, in a different format.
I would and will call out any political party, right or left that pulls this shit. That's me, that's my moral compass, and yes we all know I'm anti National, virulently anti Act, and all billionaires can essentially get fucked as they're hurting the world more than ever. Concentration of wealth is a real threat.
I will call out racism, homophobia, bigotry, misogyny, sexism, wokeness if that's even a fucking thing, culture wars, conspiracy theories and just general bullshit. All with my lens of course. Against a backdrop of indifference and personal counselling from at least one commenter not to worry my pretty little head.
And maybe in these forums that's about right. And the right is fucking toxic, not because it's the right, but because we are in an age of fascism, symptomatic of 40 years of neoliberalism and the cult of the individual, and things are twisted so far that just being human with empathy gets you called commie or socialist or cuck.
Surely you all can see the parallels with the right in this country, the UK, and Trump and the Republicans? And there are common factors behind all of this, not least of which is deliberate disinformation, a bullshit culture war, yearning for a past that was actually really toxic to everyone, and the deliberate dismantling of being held to account and democracy.
Here's a great article from Anne Salmond, with a quote from it below.
Up the wahs, next year isn't our year, but if Webby has a good off season it could be. Have a great Saturday everyone.
Comment: There's something strange about New Zealand's 'three-headed taniwha' and what it is pushing

In New Zealand,
Vernon Small in the Post likewise described our coalition government as ‘deeply weird,’ because many of its policy pitches also defy logic – cutting tax on tobacco to reduce harm from smoking; preaching democracy while seeking ministerial autocracy; slashing hospital budgets to cut waiting lists; a war on red road cones while engaging with climate denial; slamming civil servants, teachers, the health system, the economy – anyone but politicians who make Faustian bargains in the pursuit of power.
Again, its hard to disagree. There’s something very strange about this ‘three-headed taniwha.’ I thought so after the last election, as I watched
a video of Lord Hannan, a Tory peer from England and one of the authors of Brexit, addressing members of the new NZ coalition cabinet, who chortled approvingly as he praised them for aiming to cut government expenditure below 30 percent of GDP, when in Britain its 49 percent, and the health system and other public services in that country are collapsing.
