The harder and more restrictive you make business the less incentive there is to grow. Pushing shit uphill against a govt that puts barriers everywhere.

Itā€™s only natural you give up and put your capital into passive income isnā€™t it?

Are you seriously trying to claim that home owners would have been business owners if it wasnā€™t for pesky red tape? šŸ˜‚

Yes.

Itā€™s well known that once you make a bit of money in NZ you put it into passive income because we donā€™t celebrate success in NZ and you just get hammered from all sides.

Hence weā€™re the nation of small businesses. We donā€™t invest in business.

Will any NZ small business owners in here with more than 10 staff dispute this? No union representatives talking about something they know nothing about please šŸ˜‚

I will startā€¦ itā€™s true!

And as a 25 years+ small business owner what's wrong with that.
We can't all be multi Nationals like some on here aye Wiz ?

Nothing wrong with it in a small scale. But Frank is right, we need as many as possible to grow massive and make NZ great!

We need to promote, support and enable that mindset where those that want to push on and generate wealth for everyone.

You seriously think that is going to swing that way without making meaningful changes to the property market?

We need lots of changes in NZ to get us on track including addressing the property market.

Itā€™s not a one or the other because everything is interlinked.

I would think so by a long way. The subsidy was created so that tenants that would otherwise qualify for a HNZ house could find a tenancy in the private sector as HNZ could no come close to meeting demand. Attractive to landlords because the rent is paid via WINZ. I've never had rent paid by Winz as there are bigger risks with non working tenants.

We have a generation who think it is their god given right to make easy money from property and a political class unwilling / petrified to make the changes needed to pull it back.

Who in their right mind would invest in business with the property market geared the way it is?
And you think the new pro landlord (in the pockets the real estate agencies) will change this?

New Curia poll out today and despite all the negativity on here ā€˜the major parties remained relatively the same with National easing half a point to 36.5 percentā€™

And Peters, despite leading an anti media campaign and being roundly criticised everywhere is up a couple of points.

Despite a big media beat up lately, itā€™s backfiring in their faces, with the 3 coalition parties maintaining their overall support because the parties have actually just been doing what their election policies were which their supporters are happy with šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Please name the parts that have been a media beat up

While you're at it, name the policies they've said they were going to implement, 'cos they're implementing a whole lot of stuff they never mentioned or have lied about e.g. cigarettes funding tax cuts

So now you're a conspiracy theorist. Doesn't suit your echo chamber, righto.
You havenā€™t noticed the media angle:

- The govt is going to kill 5000 smokers
- the govt is racist
- worst coalition negotiations ever
- failed govt (after 1 week)
- sold out to gun lobby/ smoking lobby
- Reti should resign
- worst government opening ever
- etc, etc, etc

Negative, negative, negative. And just proven that middle NZ hasnā€™t fallen for the bought out mediaā€™s hitjob šŸ˜‰

This thread has followed the same negative narrative hence people leaving and the claims of negativity, lack of balance and perspective.

Iā€™ve personally been called racist, a white supremisist, wanting to kill the poor, privileged, etc in this thread just for supporting what middle NZ want.

Maybe a good chance for some people to reflect on if this thread is representative of middle NZ?

Really. The biggest election policy of tax cuts didn't make it past the first hurdle and the second one was regarding crime.
Mitchell has sent a letter to the Police chief.
Strong stuff..

Have tax cuts been cancelled?

I hadnā€™t heard. I thought it was just the funding needed to be rejigged.

I also don't recall implementing a racist agenda an explicit policy on the election trail either
