I think you'll find that was Chris Hipkins who called for one a few weeks back but he stressed he said it as the Leader of the Labour Party and not as the caretaker PM.Stuff

Labour called for a ceasefire a week or two back as the acting government at the time while a coalition was being prepared and was criticised by the new government. What’s changed?
If anyone can negotiate a cease fire it will be Winston.I think you'll find that was Chris Hipkins who called for one a few weeks back but he stressed he said it as the Leader of the Labour Party and not as the caretaker PM.
Also, since then, there was the temporary ceasefire and reports from Wellington this morning is that Winston will ask for that to be re-established as a permanent ceasefire.
God, I hope a permanent ceasefire happens!!!!
Both sides will stop fighting as they want him to shut up.If anyone can negotiate a cease fire it will be Winston.
Better late than never I guess, at least they are finally making a statement about it.Stuff

Of Christchurch?I didnt see the link at thought you were talking the wizard
You may not want to read them about the $45 billion hole for intrastructure that the previous government was warned about by Treasury before the Election.... sorry, that's no smokescreen....I'm going with the smokescreen to walk back promises
Analysis: Govt's mini-budget will be test of NZ's no-surprises finance rules
Is it possible for an outgoing government to leave fiscal "nasty surprises" for the incoming government to deal with?www.1news.co.nz
Isn't it all there in the prefu? "Prefu included a warning that funding had “only been committed in principle for the first three years” of the 10-year plan."Oh, and that's not even thinking about where the $40 odd billion for a new second crossing of the Auckland Harbour was going to come by.
When it was first announced, Labour said they expected that ground works would start in five years but never budgeted for even the design stage of the project. They said it come out of the existing NZTA budget, but that money had already been used up or allocated to other projects. Just seen online that the original cost "guesstimate" for the tunnel and light rail through the Shore was $56 billion add that to the $43 billion in their transport hole and that's just under $100,000,000,000 of "promises" Labour had no idea how they would fund.Isn't it all there in the prefu? Aussie unions are far stronger and militant than the unions in NZ. Have been for many years.I can’t resist - Australian workers get paid more because they exploit resources, are more productive and have economies or scale. The pay comes from more productivity per worker NOT from unions, fair pay, etc. That’s just a by product of an economy that’s killing it.
We demanded more pay because? We’re anti growth, anti extraction, anti farming, anti business, anti infrastructure investment, etc…
Sound like woke sport where everyone’s a winner even if you don’t try…
Chicken and egg.Aussie unions are far stronger and militant than the unions in NZ. Have been for many years.
CFMEU covers a lot of the major industries and the strongest is in WA and that's the biggest state for mining
I can tell you that they're not chicken and are certainly not eggs.Chicken and egg.
Do the unions get more for there workers because there is more to get? Or do the unions make the economy and GDP per person 33% bigger and more efficient so workers deserve more?
There has been a clear separation between productivity gains and wages since the 90s.I can’t resist - Australian workers get paid more because they exploit resources, are more productive and have economies or scale. They have to be, they are dealing with a bunch of convict bosses!I can tell you that they're not chicken and are certainly not eggs.
They're very militant and very strong minded staunch unionists.
The likes you have never seen here in NZ
But would you get productivity gains by paying higher? Dont we need capital, infrastructure, investment, machinery, etc. There has been a clear separation between productivity gains and wages since the 90s.

Aus has better pay across the board, they didn't gut their employment law in the 90s like we did.
