I have this weird half a thought that if we win the premiership this year I might quit being a warriors fan. I kind of peversely enjoyed the old days where we finished 10th to 12th every year. It is hard to explain what I am feeling. I like supporting a modest club. If we do win the premiership I hope we don't attract a whole bunch of fans to this site who are like All Blacks fans who only support the All Blacks because they win all the time.
I don't think I am making any sense.
Carry on. As you were.

PS the lowest days on my journey were the 70 point loss to Melbourne and the day Matt Lodge left and we paid him all sorts of money for weird reasons.
I sort of know what you’re getting at, I was more invested when we were a shit show, what players/coach can we get to dig us out of this, why are the refs such criminals - the surprising wins and the inexplicable meltdowns. now we seem like we are going to be professionally competent at the very least - what is there to say about that?

There's been agony and ecstasy over the 29 years. In the big context, I really thought we were going to be a powerhouse club when we started, and when it all turned to shit it was so disappointing that it made the Dan Anderson rebuild years so much sweeter. We got respect back.
Cycle kind of repeated until 2011, our victories in the dark years were somehow sweeter being underdogs.
Towards the end of last year when we were expected to win and ground out the 2 points it got a bit stale, not much of a sport if you know who's going to win. Until the epic Knights final that is, probably my proudest fan moment.
Still have a nagging feeling we haven't arrived as a serious club until that first premiership. After that who knows, we might get arrogant and turn into Penrith fans. My old man is one of them, an insufferable toothless cunt.
Don't think I'll ever stop supporting them though tbh.
Jesus wept. 29 years. Whatever happened to the 25 yr anniversary, last time I was allowed out of the house, albeit only to the Supermarket or Doctor. I did have the Teddy in the window though.

We may never win the comp so you gotta take it when it comes.

After that your club gets some street cred and is part of history, people will talk about that Grand final forever.

And the experts will write us off at the start of the next season, which will drag you right back in.

This competition is so difficult that anywhere in the eight should never be sneered at.

At least the Warriors will not be like Daniel Loader, New Zealand's greatest ever Athlete overshadowed by a long list of pretenders, largely because he was a kid when he won and Paul Holmes did not like that he was shy and aloof.

Dude should have a statue.

World record breaker and double gold medalist in the butterfly, the hardest discipline in the pool....and before anyone wanks on about Snell et al, swimming is much harder than running, ask any runner. You do not have to be technically perfect in every stride in middle distance and long distance.

I digress, the Warriors have been so shit for so long that no one will take a Premiership for granted the day it happens.

Thanks for this reply and the others I got. I was worried no one would understand the vibe I was putting out but everyone responded kindly and understood what I was saying so thank you.
I kind of enjoyed the street cred of supporting the Warriors at work when no one else was on the bandwagon.
I will still be around if we win the premiership but Fonzie is right the first one, if we win it this year, will taste ever so sweet.
If we make the Grandfinal I will give special thought to where I watch the game.

Wrighty Wrighty if we make the grand final I can tell you I won't be watching what I eat that day! I also haven't had a drink for almost a year now, but if we win the grand final I have a very special bottle of single malt that has been waiting a while for just the right occasion to crack. I think that would certainly qualify. I imagine it to be a bit like the end of each Boston Legal episode, having a glass or two with my best mate while contemplating the teams history and achievement. May it be so.

I might do a nudie run to the lamp post and back !!!

I will likewise put the diet on hold that day and buy my favourite chips, biscuits, ice cream and probably spend like $150 at countdown on unhealthy supplies for the game.

Are our pitchforks and torches, which have been sitting unused in the closet for over a year, now, subliminally making us hate the Warriors so they can get some use again??
Nahh these fellas just don't know how to deal with actually having hope again. They've been burnt a few too many times!

I didn't really get into watching league until a few years ago towards the end of '21 so I've missed a lot and am still pretty fresh, but always thought it'd be epic to win the Aussie comp as a Kiwi club ( even though we do have Aussie players and some of them have been cult heroes.) Cappy and Webby have also identified that when the club was successful we had 70% home grown players in the team so that's one of their focuses.

not gonna lie, I still have nightmares due to 2012. After we had all 3 grades in the GF the year previous, even the Aussie media thought we were premiership contenders in 2012. I don't blame aussies for having long memories.. All the more reason to smash this season with another top 4 finish. I'm sure that's the minimum of what webby is looking at.
