Demolished the book in quick order, something about a recent players bio, can read them in one sitting just about.

It's more interesting than Simon's book which could be summarised as "simon is very tough, simon is very humble, simon was very frustrated at times with the club"

Shaun's is a bit more complicated and he's clearly thought a lot more about his career, and why things happened the way they did.

Good insight about having to change the way he played after getting his leg broke.

Positive guy, does not bag out any former coaches, or teammates. There probably is a book to be written about the sordid years between Ivan and Covid, and Shaun was there most of all that time, but he keeps the focus on himself, not whatever other things were going on.

Yeah I’m 200 pages in.
I was wondering if he’d have it in him to bag anyone- so far the only one hes criticized is himself- and pretty heavily at that.
Not your typical leaugie and definitely struggled to fit in especially in the early days.
That farken leg break though 😭 He still had an amazing career but was never the same again.
What could’ve been…
Should finish it over the weekend.

Writes book for a start = not your typical league 🤣

Managed to pick up the book last time I was in NZ, pretty good insight. Particularly found it interesting the whole bit around what players hear and read from social media etc and how much that can effect them. Surprised there wasn’t much about the rumoured toxic culture in the post Cleary days. Up to when he comes back and should finish this weekend

Is the social media and affecting them an SJ thing or all players? I thought players were advised to steer clear for their own good?

SJ being a PR and image type person that’s chosen a post career media route suggests he was more likely to explore social media than others.

Might be a personality thing but it’d be very hard to avoid I’d imagine? I know id probably have a sneaky peek (and likely regret it)

Mate, there isn't a 20-25-year old alive that doesn't have several socmed platforms on the go at once, and no amount of telling them to steer clear is going to make them do it. It's so much part of their world. And unfortunately a 22-year old amygdala and pre-frontal cortex don't give a flying fart how much wisdom and caution from club counsellors and advisers is being imparted. SJ's one of the more reflective guys around the game, and it still took him until his late-20s to navigate the noise.
