It is a bit of a bombshell tbf- makes u wonder why they don’t rate tmm- is it as simple as his kicking game not being up to scratch or is there more to it.
Look at his contract length. Something tells me TMM wont be here much longer. Maybe his heart isnt in the game. He seems into fishing and hunting more than being a top half.

Maybe. Last season certainly looked like he was committed. IMO him at 7 gives us the best chance of winning games. Maybe it's a risk adverse AW not liking having a player who's strengths are playing what's in front of him. AW did seem to prefer the 'do these things' gives us the best chance approach.

Or maybe the neck injury hasn't come right yet.

Either way, if it's correct, I'm not looking forward to a LM/CHT halves combo. We could very easily be winless and rooted to the bottom of the table after 6 rounds with that pairing.

I will try to stay positive but I’m not happy with that combo either.
I just hope Webby doesn’t persevere with them if it doesn’t work and throw TMM or Boyd in.

I am really struggling to believe CHT will be our starting half this year.
For this to the case they must have invested considerable time in him being a goal kicking option this pre-season.
I knew Metcalf has a spot but thought TMM had the inside running with Boyd nipping at his ankles.
CHT offers a left boot which I know the coaching really covet and this may have been the difference in the end, the right and left boot combinations of the halves. CHT would be picked as a 6 and Metcalf as the 7 if they do get paired together. Perhaps they viewed Boyd and TMMs as 7s and CHT as the best person to compliment Metcalf as a 6.
I am new to league but I understand 6 plays right edge and 7 plays left edge - which is both their preferred edges so that might have been a minor consideration as well.

Some final points
1) CHT is signed for 2025, 2026 and 2027 - while TMM only 2025. The bombshell today seems to align with what those contracts indicate. For whatever reason they are not invested in TMM and don't want to resign him in 2026. And given that don't want to resign him they therefore don't want to play him as first choice half in 2025.
2) Mr Frank White's truth bomb in the post above mine that CHT lacks it in the top two inches....I thought that too and still think it, just jarring to read it and I hope it is a just matter of inexperience leading to his bad decisions rather than mental ineptness. When I started a significant business leadership role in my thirties it took me 5 years to master it before I arrived and work recognised it by suddenly putting me in charge of very large projects and I had already made my gaffs and fuck ups on smaller projects. Maybe every one goes through a harsh learning curve unless you are Nathan Cleary and your Dad is an NRL coach teaching you each night. For every shit thing I have seen CHT do i can also remember a mean 40 20 or a great pass to put someone in the corner. He does have his upsides.
3) And what does all this mean for the potential pursuit of Dylan Brown. If the Bombshell is true of course. If Metcalf if becoming a 7 and we dropping TMM from our stable. This is all very much pointing at a pursuit of Brown for 2026 where he comes here as a 6 and not as a converted 7.
4) If they just ruled out TMM due to "reasons" and this boiled down to a Boyd CHT shoot out then it must have come down to who trained the best and maybe CHT just put his heart into the drills more. Maybe he was first to the top of the sand dunes?

There is a scenario where CHT came back from sabbatical to be a utility and subsequently found himself at half.

I’ll be wishing on a star that perhaps a full off and pre season training at 6 has unlocked something.
