Hey Wrighty just to confirm - you can cancel out someone else’s trade by bidding an identical price? Reason I ask is that otherwise someone could put in a massive bid that no one in their right mind would bid over for & then they get the player for free. Say for example I really want Brandon Smith (yuck) so I bid $12m effectively cancelling out any further bids so I instead get him for free plus a $400k bonus

yes that is a loop hole. And the only counter I can think of it is what you propose that someone else can bid the exact same amount so that no one gets that player if it finishes tied. Good suggestion for a resoluton.

Contestant one $10m for Brandon Smith
Mr Brownstone $10M to match so that nobody gets him
Contest two $10.1M for Brandon Smith

And lets say it finishes like that - here the Black Sheep rule does not apply because there was another bid on Brandon Smith and Contestant two would actually have to pay $10.1M and I would hold them to it.

We will make a rule there can only be ONE tie bid on a specific player - all other bids must be incremental.. Otherwise we could get people playing spoiler. IE I am not going to let mr Brownstone get anyone because he beat me in a previous game

There is a downside out of what I have proposed but it isn't a material down side and will add to the fun and strategy. I will let you guys spot the loop hole in the loop hole.

No not beyond your IQ level it is because I am the inventor pf the game so I know all the angles better than you guys. I have deliberately been careful in what I have posted to not give away any tips or strategies.

Yeah.....but it wouldnt add to the fun.... i could put matching bids on every player bidded on in this round making all bids null and void

Can I propose that if you get a black sheep that you don't get them for free AND $400k bonus? You get a refund of $400k instead so that would stop the stupid $12m bid and it's still a bonus if you get a black sheep. If you bid $100k effectively you bought him for -$300k or if you bid $600k you get him for $200k. Therefore if you bid stupidly like $12m you end up paying $11.6m. I also don't think it's in the spirit if the game to be able to bid under an already placed bid in the open auction to void a potential black sheep

Not comfortable with this. I will make a bid summary post several times per day and will do one in twenty minutes from now.

No we have this sorted now. Good idea though but we will roll with relying on the threat of someone deliberately tieing your bid as being the disincentive to someone bidding $12M on Brandon Smith.
