Social Wrighty presents Forum Sheep game for 2024 - Round 12 Underway

One of the biggest hitters ever-that’s why they sat him next to Lockyer who couldn’t tackle for shit.
One of the readings said there were legendary match ups between him and the pack leader "Paul Harragon the Chief" where Carroll got the better of it and saw it as his responsibility to smash the top dog of the other team. Big enough marquee match ups and take downs to make it to my attention 20 years later.

That's a great idea - I am happy to do one in a month or so. A Warriors forum top 100 players (of all time ? ) or since 1980....some guys like Bruce would go way way back.
Only thing I’d counter with this is that part of the fun of the games is to find someone that others aren’t thinking of at the time or have forgotten associates with a criteria. If we have a formalised ranking of players then they’ll get researched to death.

We already have immortals & hall of fame as a guide for the ultra elite & elite level players, with a fair idea on who else will eventually qualify from the more recent crop.

It won't be a reference - it will just be another list if people want to look at it. Some people might find it valuable for judging who is rated on this warriors forums when calculating a bid. I don't see it becoming a bible or a key source for the game except for those who want it to be. I wouldn't even link it in the instructions for next year's game. It would be up to a contestant to remember we had it and go back and refer to it.

While I am happy to run it - let me Tyrael if you would prefer to as you thought of it. I just jumped on it as have seen it done before so know how to run one of these effectively.

It will be a very valuable piece of IP produced by this website that some NRL fans may find through google.

Mate, I did a wide ranging criteria designed to hide Meninga in there, even posted a list that excluded him to ‘help’. And most of you guys jumped straight onto him.

Not hiding much from the encyclopaedic knowledge by players in this game 🤣

Part of the fun is getting players I like over players that are higher ranked or better.

Eg Ridge is a personal favourite for his attitude and fits the team I’m trying to build better than RTS, who would top him on any list.

I hope how the team fits together (combinations) and the feel of a team matters more than some mathematical moneyball evaluation of teams.

If not I love my team anyway while taking out the spoon 🤣

Top 100 NRL and Top 100 pre.

Would also do like. Top 20 of each position. Maybe 30-40 for those that have two (wing, center, second row etc)

We’re spent pages debating 4 players in my squad - will we get agreement on 100 🤯

Yea, I think once you get below the elite it’s difficult separating say a great centre vs a great lock vs a great winger, for example.

Position lists might help sort it?

Could also involve much more of the forum via polls for each position?

I keep coming across references to Tonie Carroll while researching other players as part of my consultancy reviews.
Sounds like he was as mean as they come and an elite? How do you guys remember him?
Big Jaw line....bigger than Cleary's :)

Powerful bugger, big, strong.....built like a tank...my over riding memory of him is knocking out that ref
