Gameday Witzer Pre-Season challenge round 2- Warriors vs Manly

Putoko and Leiataua should be our centre pairing
I disagree that putoko displaces you know who you don't like at centre. If that happens though, I'll back him. But I reckon he's a way off yet

It's an ego era.
Grassroots is even worse.
Vaimauga at the start of the game set the tone for what I hoped was ahead, as said though that it’s a trial but that was a nice glimpse of the impact he possesses. Again being a trial but I thought Halasima looked disinterested at times and a bit lethargic, but again there were carries that 3 couldn’t put him down to be encouraged about. Watching Capewell completely silent in huddles gave me the impression Webster told him to step back and let the young guys lead

Be interested to know why you have that opinion on Hanson. Not to sure what the wingers you named showed in that trial that would put them above Mellars either.
In cup as well I haven’t seen anything special from Hansen besides a show n go. Jack Thompson Looks far better imo, besides his game play he was real vocal in the huddles.

not too fussed on Mellars I just thought the other wingers looked more electric, Harry Lutoi looks rapid.

Tanah Boyd seems to have missed the allocation of ego. If he had a disproportionately large ego he might make a great halfback
Can you dumb that down for me please.
No disrespect
Got lost at allocation because it heightened after that.🤦🤦🤦

I felt like the youngens brought the energy & aspects of class. With 20 to go, it was 26-10, and in the 10 mins from when they brought on 7 or so of these Flegg/sg ball eligible players, they scored two quick tries. Rodney looks like a beast, sikuvea had outstanding runs, Thompson showed some class in his touches, (he’s sg ball eligible), and our young outsides, both Harry’s, putoko, Kali, Norris have a big future. Many of these guys won’t even play cup this year, so they’re still a few years away for context.

Expecting a bounce back when Charnze, fish, Laban, Dallin, Pompey TMM and lofi return to the mix.

Dallin 😂

Really like the look of Tafua and is hungry after seeing that article that he’s gone all in on a league career. I thought he looked the best of our dummy halves. Egan had a nice break, I think he caught a stray elbow in the process and went to grab his head but thought better of it

yuck just looked at the try highlights - Leka on that ball over the top from Joey Walsh to Blake has no clue on how to defend in that situation - shouldn't been scored that try (shouldn't have been awarded cos of the forward pass but that's by the by) - yeah, so Leka to centre should not be a go to

Not a fan of leka playing centre either! Our halves cant feed him good ball so he definitely needs to push back in to second row.

I thought Gannon was pretty underwhelming, I think laban is far far more physical than him!

I don't mind Gannon if we have injuries, obviously england hard isnt as hard as rewa.

I dont need to see more trials.

I was at the game, takeaways in no particular order:
TSS was showing elite hustle with and without the ball - really stood out, but wasn’t dominant.
Leka at centre might work with us having the ball, but would be an adventure on defence.
First half looked like we were playing a super-conservative gameplan from our halves.
Conditions were rubbish for adventurous play - esp for a trial, greasy, drizzly and warm.
Capes was a cut above, but playing much like a pre-season game.
Streakers had a lot of ground to cover, and wet conditions wouldn’t help the hot steppers.
Thompson (I think) and Inch looked good in the second half, as was whoever was at the back.
Ali could be a goer at centre.
All in all, I think pretty solid all things considered and will be much improved with all our guns back.

A little bit of a hard watch TBH.

On paper we looked far stronger.... but the older heads seemed to be in 'jog mode' and never really hit the gas - it's pre-season #1 and they don't want injuries, I get it. So I'll live in hope that was a conscious plan...

Hanson...disappointing, but like the senior pros seemed to be pacing himself. Shame, I was hoping he'd show a little electricity like the greener lads did late.

Demi looked the good as Prop 3. Smart, physical and beefed up. Ali L: Good, strong... but looks short of a run and a little flabby.

Leka... enough already. Don't waste that talent fckg around w him at centre. Jeeeeezus.

The twatty ball steals - I hope there's some serious consequences for such stupidity. In a trial with cameras everywhere... come on.

Standout for me .... Manly's #2!
