Gameday Witzer Pre-Season challenge round 2- Warriors vs Manly

Oh and no idea if the stats back this up, but seemed like Manly had way more variety in body shapes than us … we seemed more uniform, Manly had more tall timber mixed in there

Still think might have been a better option later on to maybe swap him and Leka and see what he’s like as a fill in there, pretty clear Leka was better not there as an ‘in case of emergency’ scenario
Gannon at centre?? He’d overtake Pompey as the slowest back in the comp. I don’t get why we’re all trying to rush this guy into grade, who even is he.

We could’ve started any of Norris, Putoko, Kali at left centre and see whether or not they can be a genuine shot at a starting centre for us, I think they can.
Don’t muck around with Leka just keep him in the back row

Really like the look of Tafua and is hungry after seeing that article that he’s gone all in on a league career. I thought he looked the best of our dummy halves. Egan had a nice break, I think he caught a stray elbow in the process and went to grab his head but thought better of it
He is a good chance to debut this year. He made the extended squad a few times last year.

It's a long season so, Egan is also likely to get injured at some point. Or Healy may not be available. So he'd be next in line unless they play a makeshift dummy half.

If Egan is injured Tafua would be useful on the extended bench to cover Healy.

I've been keeping an eye on him as at NSW Cup games I'd often hear people cheering him. they were deserved as he'd be running a lot or close to scoring. Since I've been watcing him he's been running less but his service has been improving.

That stripping call today was a bit rough. He didn't really rack it. The ball carrier looked like he moved his arm. The Bunker likely was looking at which way the ball was spinning or something. Still I thought it was a bit harsh.

For some prespective. Our game looked very, very similar to the one right after. Tigers v Roosters. Tigers have a squad filled with youth of only have a couple of players who have played 1-5 NRL grade matches. With 1 regular of last season being Sione Fainu (for us it was Blake Wilson). Against a Roosters side who is stacked with NRL exprenced members:
1. Talau -> Ali (Talau has played many, many more. With Ali only having 14 games under his belt.)
2. Savala -> Boyd (Savala played most of last season for the roosters surprisingly.)
3. Egan Butcher -> Ford (played a similar amount of games)
4. Nat Butcher -> Capewell (Both started 1st grade in 2016 and are captians this round)
5. Sua Wong -> Clark (Clark has had 3 years more of first grade over Wong, but that is evened out by the Talau, Ali diffrence).
6. Foketi -> TSS
7. Ioelu -> Healey (Ioelu with 4 more games)
Other than that we had Egan who is unmatched on the roosters side. Can't exactly count Leka as an exprenced NRL player here as he is playing a brand new position (outside of the one panther's game).

Surprsied to see 95% of the chat being around our attack over our defense. We missed 3 conversions leaving 6 points on the table which would of gotten us to 24. You should be able to win any game with 24 points. Letting them get 33 on us was a lot more upsetting personally.

I’ll probably cop some grief but I’d have him over Healey on what I’ve seen

Hanson and Boyd shouldn’t be anywhere now our top team. I wouldn’t be mad if Webby showed some balls and threw Jack Thompson in there.

Out of all the wingers I thought Harry lutoi, Amituanai and Pasikala Looked better than Mellars.

Putoko , Kali and Norris should be right on the incumbents heels if not straight in.

I think our pack will get rolled against the big bodied packs if we continue this one out running, no offloads style. Which was shown today, we had a much stronger pack and got rolled by some young fella Laifi, who’s mainly played flegg.

Gannon needs to earn his spot in cup, before any thoughts about first grade
Jack Thompson? You can’t be fair dinkum, hasn’t long been of Harold Mats. He is know Nathan Cleary
