Gameday Witzer Pre-Season challenge round 2- Warriors vs Manly

Have you attended a few trainings and been underwhelmed?
I have only attend the members training a few weeks ago. I am just a fan. Remember seeing way too much dropped ball at the training including players dropping it on the first tackle or under no pressure. 99% of the game at the training was just hit ups, and then when the went wide it just kept going until they were over the sidelines. Was expecting to see progress today compared to that training, but didn't which is worrying. Again, love the club. Will be watching until I can't any more. Just disappointed from what I've seen so far this year.

Will be interested to see others thoughts after that performance.

Obviously this is based on 1 trial game.

Hanson looks good, does everything CHT does and is quicker.
Mellars looked promising too, high hopes for both of them.
Vaimauga looked like he’s ready to be an alpha prop.

The rest is worrying.
Not sure what Gannon does, looked laboured in everything.
Jackson Ford is still the same, his negatives done outweigh his ‘effort’.
Tannah Boyd looks to have gone backwards somehow?

We’re gonna struggle for points this year.

The players not out there today don’t necessarily change that either. It wasn’t like we created a lot of chances and missed polish. We just struggled to create.

Until Metcalf is back we have to hope we don’t lose too many.

These preseason trials should not just be player or team focused but "officials" too theres already been some bad decisions out of 6-8 games so far, need to sort their shit out before rnd 1..

Having said that, win/lose dont matter. I felt the game was ok ... Webby only needs to see the boys do enough, once he does, get them off, why risk injuries... But shit we have some great young talent... Late in the 2nd half was great to see them do their thing... Definitely keepers there...
I'm already frustrated with the six agains.

Hanson got done for ruck interference as he had his had locked up. If he pulled it out chances are the ball carrier would have dropped the ball and it would be ruck interference. I get they want a fast game but sometimes their bodies are tangled especially with the wrestling in the modern game.

A set or two after the Hanson six again one of our players gets up to play the ball gets pushed over. Yes, they occasionally pick these up but happens too often. Player gets up to play the ball, gets pushed over and has to get up again. That is definitely going to slow the play the ball down.

yeah hard agree on the halves, not sure if it's fair to lump Doyle (never going to challenge for a 1st grade spot) or Egan in with that ... thought Healey was disappointing, Tafua looked good tho
Oh, Not putting the blame on Doyle. He is a safe dependable player. Our problem is we had a whole spine of the same ilk. Egan included. Alot of flint but no spark.

Did you attend any last year and thought they were further ahead than what you’ve seen this year?

We have a lot of guys that are still a few pre-seasons away from first grade. It was good to see a few of them play.

Our team has lacked speed the last few years. As much as the second half was messy with the changes. The guys that were on looked like they had some speed.

First trial is always this dreadful one out footy, don’t deserve any results when they play this way. Manly played properly and deserved it.

Until the 72nd minute try the wingers didn’t touch the ball in attack, other than to hit up or chase a kick, thats how boring we were.

Gannon will need to get a lot stronger, inch looked more powerful.

Jack Thompson looks like an anemic school kid, but nrl veteran Tanah Boyd can’t or won’t throw that pass.

Looking at the teams earlier in the week it looked like it would be a good hit out. Then get our young guys on and see how they go. The main things would be our structures with and without the ball.

Have to give it to Manly. They did what Foran asked of when interviewed pre-game. Put in practice what they had trained.

They did what a lot of Australian clubs have done to us in the past. Capitalise on our mistakes.

They made mistakes themselves but managed to defend them.

The try before half time to get them to 16. Sure the last pass looked suspect but it was still good work. Move the ball, make a break, support on the inside to finish the movement.

As much as we discuss our halves options. I thought Joey Walsh did some good work.

I don't think we should read too much into trial games. As most of you have stated, it's just to give players some game time and stuff. I do hope RTV gets a shot at first grade this year and becomes a regular. We still lacking a big prop and he can be that 'big' prop we need.
My favourite post so far. Amen to to all of this.

Hanson and Boyd shouldn’t be anywhere now our top team. I wouldn’t be mad if Webby showed some balls and threw Jack Thompson in there.

Out of all the wingers I thought Harry lutoi, Amituanai and Pasikala Looked better than Mellars.

Putoko , Kali and Norris should be right on the incumbents heels if not straight in.

I think our pack will get rolled against the big bodied packs if we continue this one out running, no offloads style. Which was shown today, we had a much stronger pack and got rolled by some young fella Laifi, who’s mainly played flegg.

Gannon needs to earn his spot in cup, before any thoughts about first grade
