Question. How was the
Taine tackle in the in goal a shocking/incorrect call?
I haven't re-watched the game (yet), but vividly recall thinking Ennis was plain wrong in the commentary with a similar statement.
Taine's ball-carrying arm had hit the ground outside of the in-goal, so the tackle is over at that point. Then Shibasaki came in, joined the tackle and gave him another shove. Different if
Taine is on his back / knees / other arm, but his ball-carrying arm had hit the ground and it is therefore a penalty.
Once the ref explained it to Hunt, they didn't push Reynolds challenge it - that, for me, is telling. As soon as the ref had finished responding to the "what the?!" from Hunt (I had the same reaction initially too), Hunt just shrugged it off and walked away.
