Saw Charnz interviewed by Courtney on Fox right after the match and he finished the interview by saying hi to his babies and he will see them Sunday

Makes sense now why he cried when his wife and bubs went up to him post game for his 50th

Undersigned coincidence of footage

Will need to rewatch after getting home. But damn that win felt so 2023, we are not going to click in attack sometimes and the roosters goal line defense was really good. But for us to last in a grind like that feels great. I'd say this win means more than last week.

Even robbo in the press conference said this was a great game for both teams. You don't normally see this type of game so early in the season and it's a great sign of the mental maturity of both.

Attacking chances will come with pressure but to get upset about it in the moment and let it effect your defense is what makes it brakes teams. Which makes the 5th play, bomb and tackle to keep the grind on while not pressuring our goal line make sense to me.

Mixed love on the bench use. Loved that Vaimauga was subbed in the first half but wish it was longer than 18 mins. Loved how Leka came on for 2nd rower marata for most of the 2nd half (30 mins). But I hope that isn't because capes had to drop to center. And both probably got more out of joining a grind vs a normal game.

But this a game to build into a season on!

Hands up who was confident of the win 8 points up ten minutes left to play?
Any other warriors season you don't let yourself relax until ten seconds left.
The reason I was confident was I looked on the field and saw Fish standing there. And thought this is on ice. Fish completely shuts down the ruck area and 1 out runners with 20 minutes to play with an iron fist. As I posted last week his best in the NRL middle third defence is a better fit for the warriors than AFBs best in the NRL PCMS.
tbh I thought there was a chance that we would blow it. I was at Melbourne last year so I don't rule anything out when it comes to us.

I have to be honest, I thought we would be in for a tough night after the respective first sets. We barely made 20 meters in our first set and they charged through us in their first set. But after the shaky start, I thought we got into the arm wrestle and eventually overpowered them, just like we did against Manly. Seems like we are doubling down on our 2024 gameplan: keep the ball in play for as long as possible and grind sides into the dust over the course of the full 80 with our mobile, but powerful pack. I have my doubts long term but maybe it'll work better this year with JFH in our pack to shore up our middle defense.

Our attack is still clunky af. With all the ball we had in the first 20, we really should have had a commanding half time lead, like we did against Manly. I'm beginning to think Willie Mason is right and LM is a 6 and CHT is a 7. LM's strength is his running game, not his ability to organize a team. In our 2023 charge, that was how we used him to great effect, with SJ as the organising 7. Just food for thought.

Finally, Ford was great. I also thought Niukore had a solid game- I think he is copping a lot of unnecessary hate here. Him and Ali make a damaging attacking edge imo.

was wondering who came off, forgot it was Capewell to centre

We had Fish, Barney, Clark, Ford and Leka for the last quarter. Roger was gone by 60th minute so if Leka came on before that then he was Marata’s sub and Ford ended up staying on longer for RTS/Capewell

Rewatched the last part, really wished Metcalf passed to Leka with Ali next to him and see what happens instead of kicking it for Teddy to cock it

Ivwatched the delayed covreage on free to viee. First off there are some hard critics on here. I thought it was just what the yeam needed as a performance. They groundbout avwin aga8nst a strong resilient opposition.

Mistakes are bound to happen but they were kept to a minimum and completions were high.

I guess Harper will replace RTS, or maybe Kosi. Some very good performers in the NSW TEAM.

i would tempted to leave Pompey on the Wing and use Rocco.

Great game for mine... that Leka is something special. I was worried after Leniu had a strong first carry in his second stint, only for Leka to respond with his own barnstorming run.

Attack wasn't great, LM, I feel wasn't engaging the line, he was playing too deep and no sweep play will work without compressing the middle and inner edge. He didnt look like he was running freely all night though so maybe something is up?

All in all, a good performance on both sides of the ball. Great to see us playing with urgency and energy at the end of a game

The dream.

Pretty sure he'll be the caretaker when Todd gets shit canned. Probably even turn them around.
Given how Toddy walked out on us and pretty much did it on live TV, there is a sense of schadenfreude watching this slowly play out… but that’s not for this thread.

Gutsy win. I’m more pleased about the 6 points conceded. We keep defending well then we give ourselves a chance every week,.

To break the roosters hoodoo is sweet and satisfying. Another club I am not a fan of. Well done to the boys. Some great effort plays from our old heads and young guns. That’s what excited me.

Ali and Leka look superb. Our front row is exceptional, Clark is definitely buy of the year, CNK had a standard setting performance (aside from the positioning on Le Chads 40/20)

Tigers next. Winnable away with a 9 day turnaround. I’m backing us here with a decent rest.

Then a bye and a good 14 days before Storm. This is the year of breaking hoodoos. With that workload, we will be reasonably fresh for that challenge.

2-1. Let’s make it 3 next week. Well done tonight boys!
