Ahh waking up on a Saturday after a satisfying Friday night win, is thet anything better?
Most of what I wanted to say has already been said. So many good performances. Barny, JFH and Clark leading the way and setting that line speed.
CNK responding from his worst game ever in Vegas, to over 300 running meters.
My only complaint about Leka is when ever he gets the ball theres always 3 or 4 guys in front of him. Maybe a set play or something where he's either 1 on 1 or 2 on 1. Once we figure out how to put him in space he's going to score a lot of tries

Metcalf shpuld learn more about being a 7 last night than against Manly. What the team s⁷howed effort on effor.t. zRTS tackle effort with his hamstring gone should be a highlohht.
The warriors bring the hurt! That’s two games at home where we’ve messed up the opposition just by being harder. I was wondering how Barney and Fish would gel, but it’s like two of the hardest hc bouncers at a Rotorua nightclub. You’re gonna get some pain, and they keep going for 80 mins. Then if you get through them you got Jake the muss and Erin Clark running at you full noise…..

I'm not going to be able to watch this live, so picking it will be our most amazing performance all year
Avoided my phone last night and watched replay unspoiled as soon as I woke up this morning, what a beautiful way to start the day
Great hard fought win, solid defence and some magic touches especially on that last 20 odd min to ice it. Gotta love it!
Sucks that Roger out now, really hope that we don't go back to the cursed Kosi well again, maybe a quicker return than expected for Berry next week?
The post match press conferences from the opposition coaches the last few weeks have been good.
Seibold's was short. But like Robinson it was the usual made too many mistakes before they acknowledged how well we played which was the bulk of it.
This could be a result of not being able to talk about the officiating. Mind you there weren't any major clangers against the opposition the last few weeks. But at the moment I'll take the respect we are getting.

I'll admit after two handling errors earlier in the game and a few years of the majority of his stuff not coming off. That when CHT put up that bomb I did say "Oh not you".
Can happily say a few seconds later I said to my son "Made me eat my words, I'll keep my mouth shut now".
A good play with him chasing though on his own kick and scoring.

I'm sticking to my guns. We're winning the comp this year. Until we lose again after which I'll call for the coach to be sacked.

So pleased to get the win last night. I felt that being able to win a tight one without all of our players being comfortable in their roles was a good sign of things to come. Our pack is formidable and our defence from the backs was on point. The right edge looks so much more capable defending without DWZ in the line. My biggest worry is the halves and the lack of creativity but as has been said give them time.
We were fortunate last night that their centres struggled to get good ball to the wings. They were facing some stiff defence but there were at least half a dozen knock ons or bad passes that would have put their wingers away if they'd stuck. And that would have changed the game.
One thing that bugged me last night ( and all last season) was kicking to wingers on the 5th tackle. Why do we do it so much? Why kick an easily catchable ball to 18 foot tall specialist wingers that practice catching every day?
I get that it's a territory thing and strategy and we can't score off every set but it's like we rumble it up for 5 tackles and then give the ball back for the opposition to try to do better. No 40/20 attempts. No grubbers to make them pick up a rolling ball. No set 5th tackle plays. We don't even try to drag a winger into a 5th tackle then kick to his wing. Just a straight forward kick to a set winger. Anyone got some sound theory around why we do it?
But well pleased with the win. And pleased I bit the bullet and resigned with Sky Sport after last weeks performance. I'm confident we can do the Tigers next week and if we can 2 points from that game and 2 from the bye and we're well set up before the season really starts.

My uneducated take to me Metcalf is a natural ball runner, up until they put the 7 jersey on him his first instinct was to run......now its looking to set up play outside him. Once he learns to balance that out and realizes one of the best ways he can open up space for his outsides is to run, the attack might flow smoother and open up more oppertunities.
Also he's yet to gain understanding of tempo. Changing tempo can open up defences a lot more than just going full pedal to the floor everytime. TMM plays with great tempo going from fast to slow or slow to fast hence why he puts runners into space often. This however only comes with experience and can take a long time to realize......look how long it took SJ to get it.
Webby and the club are all in on Metcalf so even if the results dont necessarily go our way their going to give him all the time he needs, so injury apart i think he's got the 7 jumper all season.
Learning in first grade based on potential. Have we seen this before and how did it turn out?
Not bagging the Metcalf experiment as we’re committed to him now, but isn’t it better to have someone earn there way up gaining experience in reserves in such a key position rather than someone changing positions and trying to make it fit?
He got to run the game ball out in full kit too, I have a family member with Down Sindrome so seeing something like that hits a little different.
He seemed a little quiet last night & didnt attack the line.Played a link role maybe to instructions or carrying a niggle.Who knows.
Everyone seems to have grown in confidence since last week.
Well thats what the coaching staff had to weigh up i suppose.
For mine thats why i thought it was strange the club went this route when u already had someone in TMM who was already much further progressed on that journey, had already put the yards in and had the runs on the board so to speak.....especially after his performances of last season, and is coming into the prime age for halves in fully understanding their game.
Luke is at the start of that......im not doubting he can get there but its going to take time
And its not like we're the only club in this position, Jahrome Luai, Matt Burton to an extent, Dylan Brown when he goes to the Knights.....all players who have or will have to learn the nuances of running a team from just the run first instinct theyve normally played with.

Good in theory Wiz but as we saw last night there is a huge step up to FG from Cup level.
Roosters Cup side were bluntly FKN awful & didnt tackle.They thought De fence is what goes around De oval.
