Pick Your Team Warriors v Roosters - [Round 3, 2025]

🤖 Thread Summary

The discussion centers on potential team changes for the Warriors' upcoming Round 3 match against the Roosters, following their recent win. A major point of debate is whether coach Webster will alter a winning team, with many participants believing he will stick with the same lineup unless injuries force changes, as Noitall #21 suggests it is hard to imagine Webster will change a winning team when he just backed a losing team. However, there's significant discussion regarding individual player performances and potential replacements.

Several contributors are advocating for certain players to get a chance, particularly Jacob Laban and Rocco Berry, who are performing well in the NSW Cup. There's a strong push from Damo #57, among others, to "bring him in Webby," referring to Laban's outstanding form. Questions are raised about the best way to integrate Berry back into the side, Neo #33 brought up a key question around whether Berry should play on the left or right, given previous combinations.

The performance of Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad CNK is another recurring theme. While some feel he's not performing at his peak and suggest Taine Tuaupiki should take over fullback duties, others like Completion Rate #86 defend CNK, highlighting his tough carries and contributions to the team's overall strategy. Concerns are also raised about Tuaupiki's lack of height being a potential weakness against the Roosters' wingers, and Five&Last #23 cautions against playing him on the wing. sydneywarrior92 #50 emphasized the need to win home games, as the Roosters are beatable despite coming off a high.

Charnz looked a bit lethargic out there imo.
I feel that with him offering up so little in the last 2 weeks, we would probably be better off shifting him to the wing and having Tuaupiki or TMM roaming from the back would make us more dangerous.

Cleaned up his errors this week and ran for 170m so wasn't terrible by any stretch, he just seemed to struggle to get involved, especially in any back line set plays

1. Taine Tuaupiki
2. Adam Pompey
3. Rocco Berry
4. Ali Leiataua
5. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
6. Chanel Harris-Tavita
7. Luke Metcalf
8. James Fisher-Harris
9. Wayde Egan
10. Mitch Barnett
11. Leka Halasima
12. Marata Niukore
13. Erin Clark

14. Sam Healey
15. Demetric Vaimauga
16. Dylan Walker
17. Jacob Laban

I think Taine's outplayed Charnze and deserves his shot at fullback (i also think he gets exposed badly against the height that the Roosters have on the wings). Rocco straight in, Pompey to wing and Charnze out.

Laban was fantastic for NSW cup and gets a shot on the bench - even though I think Eddie was probably next in line so is probably hard done by. Good problem to have and no excuse for playing Capewell and Ford imo.

Marata did enough this week to save the axe.

Webby just needs to sub Marata at the 30th or 50th minute mark to give Leka some time to wind up and get going. He's far more deliberate and impactful with footwork and acceleration into contact than Niukore who just uses his size to trundle into a halfback to no effect.
Loved seeing the sets in the second half where it was Halasima then Vaimauga on direct ru ns. Sign of the future right there.

I doubt Webby makes any changes, but the two positions that stand out are Pomps and CNK. It's clear CNK is our 3rd best FB (maybe lower if TMM got a chance). We're a bit stuck because number 1a and 1b are on the wings, but FB is more important and both showed they can create some magic that CNK just isn't showing.

Otherwise same team just use the bench more Webby. Could easily take Ford out and bring Healey in, spread those minutes to the young boys.

Berry will most likely start if they think he’s ready otherwise no other changes. It was a very good win and you give the players another opportunity to build on that.

I think Halasima will definitely be a starter by the end of the season but I think twenty minutes a game is a good way to blood in a guy who could be a cornerstone for the next 15 years.
