Pick Your Team Warriors v Knights - [Round 8, 2025]

🤖 Thread Summary

The forum discussion revolves around team selection and game strategy for the upcoming Warriors vs. Knights match, focusing on player performance and potential lineup adjustments. A key point of debate centers on whether to bring back Roger Tuivasa-Sheck RTS, with some suggesting he could add another dimension to the attack, while others prefer Taine Tuaupiki in the fullback role, highlighting his dangerous runs through the middle. There is also discussion around the performance of Ali Leiataua, Makasene #11 suggesting he needs to be more involved and 'hungry' for the ball, rather than just waiting for opportunities.

Recently, much discussion has been about the inclusion of Healey on the bench to give Egan a break, as highlighted by Webby's comments in the post-match presser, with many agreeing that Egan can't play a full 80 minutes consistently, roguei #21 and others preferring Healey over TMM. However, there's some debate among the users whether Healey is actually ready for first grade, with some mentioning his contract status. Concerns were raised regarding Niukore’s consistency, Lance155 #32 comparing him to Pita Hiku in terms of fluctuating performance levels, noting that he needs to apply himself more consistently.

The potential impact of the Knights' injured players returning has been considered. sydneywarrior92 #106 expressed concerns about complacency and the risk of an ambush, especially given the Knights' coach being under pressure, reiterating that the game is a potential 'banana skin' game for the Warriors. There's a sense of caution regarding the team's ability to back up a big win against a weaker opponent, sup42 #57 noting the mental challenge and the team's 'B side' appearance due to injuries. Despite those concerns, recent momentum is positive with fans confident in a victory in Christchurch.

I gotta agree with others and say that having Healey or even lussick on the bench looks better than TMM. I don't think It's fair on either CHT or TMM to switch in and out of the 6 role, it's a position that you get better as the longer you stay with the the same spine players.

That said I wonder if Healey is on a train and development contract this year. Meaning he cannot play in full grade till round 10.

Think Egan is hugely important and the fact they had to bring him back on after there was an injury complaint says to me they need him on the field. Webster mentioned after the game that Egan can’t play 80 so it’ll be interesting the direction they go. Even Egan’s tackling is strong with him really hurting Willison to dislodge the ball on one occasion

Was it last week Webby said Egan can't be doing 80 for the whole season. So I do think at some point we will move to having Healey on the bench. Perhaps getting minutes into our young guys first then make the change?

Unpopular opinion.

I'd drop Leka back to the bench. Capewell came good, and imo probably does those 1% that we don't see.
I thought a few times before Leka's try he looked to be impatient and on another occasion got carried away. He's young, and has a big career ahead of him, give him a few more starting opportunities this year but also, I really like the thought of him taking a good year to learn how best to use his frame against a tiring opposition off the bench. Let him focus on the minute to minute grind of NRL a little later.

Yea every game he definitely does have 'rookie' moments. So I am happy to have his time managed as Webby sees fit. Capes has been shocking this year. Definitely a step in the right direction, i hope he keeps it up
