Who else thinks we're heading for a Johnson/Harris Retirement Combo before too much longer??
Admittedly my Retirement Prediction Accuracy sits at 0/4 right now (I've said it about Egan twice and Harris twice BTW), so plenty of salt should be added to that sentence, but I think I might just break my duck...:)

Mal Meninga agreed the Warriors seemed “a lot more settled with him at No.7 and Harris-Tavita at No.6.

“There’s obviously a lot of question marks around Shaun Johnson at the moment. His body is obviously starting to fall apart.

“I look at the team when those two guys (Martin and Harris-Tavita) are at No.6 and No.7 and they just seem to fall into their roles and the responsibilites.

“They do it really well.

Meninga believes “it’s going to be very difficult to get SJ back into the team.”

“I just feel they flow a lot better as a team when those two (Martin and Harris-Tavita) are at No.6 and No.7.

Thankfully for Webster he has a few more weeks before he needs to make his big halves call. By that time he may have no choice but to stick with their current partnership.
Tbf I don’t think meninga pays much attention to us- kept wanking on about how our for and against is gonna work against us- oblivious to the fact we had a draw and saying all the titans tries were scored down Sj side which was rubbish as well.
Cht and tmm were fantastic though- hopefully they can keep it up.

Broncos in a bit of a slump too but begs the question for me just how we go from not being able to defend at all to only conceding 16 points this week? People will say speed but there’s some speedsters in the broncos too like the titans last week. The wet conditions would have somewhat eradicated that to a degree but there feels like there’s more to the dynamics of this team than meets the eye
Barnett makes a big difference in our defense. Remember hearing Tohu saying how Barnett prides himself on his defense and defensive line speed.

Just caught up with the game.

Thought our start was very good. Loving the TMM/CHT/Walker combo.

Weak Broncos side but we did everything we needed to in that first 30 I thought. A little concerning that we conceded on the Broncos first real chance down our end. Also we don't look switched on in defence at times. Break from a tap restart on our left edge, the short drop out where Cobbo almost scored etc

The 30min to 60min was a bit average and particularly considering who we were up against.

I said in the pregame that it would be a comfortable win in the end with some scares along the way and so it turned out.

Not perfect, clunkiness at times but take the 2 and work on improving.

Absolutely. But 50 points is a stretch in the space of a week. Something feels to me like members of the team is struggling with the style SJ has us playing and the robotic comment after the game from TMM I thought was in regards to this

Barnett came back and AFB shoved a cameraman.

What more would you like to know about the team dynamics?

Not sure how your half having a bad game would lead to a 60 point thrashing. SJ does not lead the defensive effort. I suspect that there are some internal issues in the playing group. Likely more than just one. Webster has likely addressed these during the week. I will not speculate on who as I just have no idea. Having a hard nose player like Barnett back helped us immensely. He seems like he would not accept a lack of effort in D.

IMHO simply the CHT-TMM-WALKER clic together really well (and personally I think Taine would also fit very nicely in than spine from FB ..)

Kosi isn't a FG player and Montoya would be right down the bottom of the list of FG wingers so both are edges and the centre was stinking it up
so we had SLOWWWWWWWWW wings and SJ -TOHU slow pay in the centres lacking in cohesion

then you had the titans playing some of their best footy of the season or some are saying in the teams history!!

our weaknesses then continued to add pressure right across the team and we lost all structure and belief... players started trying to win solo styles throwing stupid ball playing stupid fast ball slow hands bomb to the RH ... we just compounded issues ..

Maybe TOHU / SJ being so much older than much of the young guys just don't gel that well ...

Just though the lack of anything from attitude right across the board was noticeably missing last week and wondered if it was a statement from some that they weren’t happy with the current makeup of the team. Can recall pictures at trainings through the year with TMM and Walker deep in conversation and think their own personal form has a lot to do with each other. Probably not a fair summation to SJ and many more layers to it, but certainly think the direct style of play that TMM and CHT is paying dividends

We do look better this year with TMM and CHT and you need to add Walker to that as well. That is until that combination loses. Then us fans myself included will yell loudly on this forum demanding change. Part of being a passionate fan. SJ has a way higher ceiling than TMM or CHT and we all know that. This year though his body is letting him down and I suspect we are playing him way to early after his injuries. I hope he takes the time to get his body right as SJ at his peak gives us a better chance at winning.

Can’t agree with that at all in regards to having a higher ceiling under SJ, perhaps last year but we’re living on previous form if that’s the case. The quality of opposition our wins this year also speaks volumes to him having a negative effect currently. It hurts me to type this but I can’t see how it can be disputed on what we’ve now seen. I hope he can get back to the form and health you’re talking about but at the moment I don’t think it’s working for the team with us playing under SJ’s guidance

SJ was not the reason Titans put 66 on us… some of youse simple minded souls need to stop blaming SJ for all the team’s problems… it’s all on the coach… his inability to fix the problems at half time tells him his words have lost meaning … Webby needs to get a spine and call a spade a spade
