I am okay with this if we can add a couple of offensive threats around him as we tinker with the roster for 2025. A speedy winger/fullback, and a ball-playing 2nd rower (Niukore, Barnett FR). Teams who don't invest in high value halves should be able to afford to this, and without it we don't look threatening at all next year. I'm optimistic that this is the club's thinking for 2025, but we certainly seem to be setting up well for a 2026 cap redistribution.

A 2 year contract suggests the club is playing pretty safe with this.

The fact that Boyd is not a big spend or marquee half, does it leave us room to get someone else or atleast plan for a marquee for 2026?

I reckon!

Just for a bit of fun:

Losses:
SJ - $700k
Jazz - $350k
Montoya -$300k

Gains:
Healey - $300k?
Clark - $450k?
Boyd - $400k?

So that would leave us with about 250k, plus I think we had a bit of change from the AFB->JFH deal.

Plus, we'd have to get someone else off our books to bring someone else in so if we lost say Bunty, you'd put his $250k together with AFBs money and the difference between those blokes above. I'd guess we'd have anywhere between 4-700k for someone for next year.

So much negativity when we should be Boyd by this signing. I think he's going to surprise a Tanah people.
He could show the boys how to be part of a team that scores 66 points while only conceding 6, for a start!

Although Tanah could find helping to turn the Warriors back into Grand Final Contenders a Titanic strugle! Too much Coasting and not enough Gold...

Every squad needs value signings, and then cross the fingers that they over perform.
The current squad has a terrible imbalance of older players and exciting youth but no much in between.
I expect further signings of players with 3-4 seasons of experience regardless of position.
