With Reed Mahoney given permission to negotiate with rivals, I have this funny feeling that he will be looking across the Tasman. Gus seems to have a genie in a bottle and his wish eventually comes true. Could he grab Wayne Egan, could he grab Sam Healey who supposedly seems unsettled. Watch this space!
Can’t see either of those happening. Pretty sure they will just play howard at hooker. They probably just needed to clear cap space for Galvin.

Bailey Hayward the hooker for them, although I’m very comfortable with them signing Wayne Egan… is he a relation of Wayde or Dylan?

They fucking better be clearing cap space or the NRL is a farce. I can't remember anything like the signing spree the dogs have been on these past few years. No way in hell should they have been able to afford Galvin with all these signings AND Leo Thompson next year. When you consider they've achieved nothing at all in recent memory, so it's not like they got a discount on most of this talent, their cap makes zero sense.

We're having to build a squad from the ground up and have a decent chance of losing players we develop like Metcalf, even though we can afford them. The farce with the bulldogs is a mockery.

It’s not that bad - they played moneyball on a heap of their signings. Players like Mann, Tracey, Curran, Xerri were prob signed at or below market value. Burton & Max King they got at great value. Sure they paid up for Kikau, Mahoney, Fox, but 1 of them has already left & another will go soon. They aren’t paying huge dollars for Galvin either.

Gould just recruits at will, praises them up in the media and then ruthlessly cuts them when he deems them surplus.
Its a bit shady but it works.

I used to laugh when he was going on about Penriths 5 year plan...

Bit of a catch 22 when you’re wanting the squad to build a bond between them though. If players are doing all expected of them in training hard and getting results, teammates feel a bit disappointed for the person they’ve come to build a bond with and been shat on. That’s apparently the situation at bulldogs right now with players feeling sympathy for Sexton and unhappy with the club. Think the difference between bulldogs and panthers in what they built is bulldogs are a team of mercenaries and panthers kept a group of highly rated players coming through the grades together

Boyd takes his player option for 2026 and remains with Warriors New

Tanah Boyd taking up his option for next year and sticking around. Think the club would have been honest with him and he could still be in their plans? He may be depth but if he gets an opportunity, he might grab it with both hands. Think now if TMM is to be extended, it’s as a 14 going forward. Still a possibility, we signed Walker as a bench utility who can fill multiple positions and TMM has that in his arsenal. If he got a preseason to become accustomed to lock off the bench, I’d back him with him a strong defender. That’s possibly where Gannon fits in though?
