Heat got them a bit 30°+ looked gassed at times... however can't ignore Melbourne's speed, jump on any errors their whole backline reacts, not just 1 or 2....Taine's too short, bad match up for this game anyway..
Seemed like Hughes influence showed in the 2nd half.
Game went from speed to grind.
Put this one behind us, home to the Broncs just hope our injuries aint too bad...

also, i hate to be negative and today was not a good one to measure by, but at what point do you play TMM at 7? metcalfe seemingly has all the potential in the world but were already at a quarter of the way through the season.
Doubt he would have made much difference today and if he's moving on whats the point? Webby's got Luke locked in through thick and thin I reckon, which could explain our rookie half signings too.

Don't think TMM would have made the difference, he played well yesterday but not outstanding
not today, but he had a good handful of games last year that eclipse LM attacking output this year, and has been killing reggies.
not saying for a second that he’s the answer, but LM has only shown glimpses.

my question is; given the same amount of time, who would be the best fit.
chanel has been the better half for the most part of this season so far i think. and that’s saying something.

Leka only came on when CNK ruled out, Webster still no fkn idea at tunes and to bring on that plank after his sin binning effectively sealed the game, I would be pissed if we were Metcalf after that cover tackle. Irony Storms only try second half was after a comedic play the ball from J.Ford , the coaches adopted son.

If we think we can be a top 8 side with that muppet starting over JFH next week, I’ll be mowing my lawns rest of these season when we play. Klein again, 14th man for NewsCorp owned teams. We will be fucked if he gets the whistle next weekend, playing against 14 again.

Metcalf early days as a 7, need to be patient. TMM for CHT though is a must. He was pretty absent as a 6, yet again.

A lot of admiration for Melbourne in that performance. I do not think we are THAT bad I just think they are THAT good. The ball in play, the speed, the shape they throw at you. That’s the yardstick. We made a few basic errors. Didn’t ice a few opportunities. And that’s the difference. So no jumper burning tonight. Melbourne will do that to a lot of other Top 8 teams.

Do we have the firepower to beat them. No. Not if the best 8 players are all fit and firing. But we do have the cattle and the game plan to see us into the 8 and then I think the actual structure and discipline that we have tried to put in place will pay dividends in a final series. Not saying we win it. But this is a path to consistency.
I do think Webby can be a bit more innovative on using our bench for impact with the new young talent we have there. But look Melbourne is going to win this year and I thought while the scoreboard didn’t flatter - we actually stayed in our game plan and kept trying. Definitely seen more woe-full

Storm always seem to get the rub of the green, it’s insane. I think guys like Bellamy, Bennett, and now Cleary (who’s doing it so well it probably explains his run over the storm) must be so good at setting the game interpretation pre game with referees and ref bosses, it’s the only way I can explain it.

I only caught second half and tbh I was impressed with our side.

Didn’t see the first, don’t plan on it, but if it was offloads killing us then that’s exactly what the raiders did to us so seems like it’s going to be a weakness
nah they just adopt the old push, grab, niggle, milk at every chance and bet the ref isn't going to call it - cecchin called everything once in a famous game against the sharks and it triggered crisis meetings over the referees role.

God forbid they just play normally, they have enough talent (how are they all under the cap when penrith shed players every year) to win games normally.

our guys kind of dropped lip after the first try TBH - here we go again.

Actually thought metcalf had a dig and asked some questions this week, but there was no platform for Egan and CNK had no role in the attack.

bunty is playing like he wants to keep his job - if you could put the attitude of a Dallin into Berry's body you'd have a good player, Rocco plays smaller than he is.

1) I had a feeling Ford would make the PTB error before he proceeded to do so. The reason why I knew he might do it - is that calmness was required at that point and a nice safe play of the ball which is the opposite of how he operates.
2) I am close to hopping off the metcalf train. My main reason is that he was trying to play dinner suit rugby league. Slowly jogging around and dishing it off to various forwards who were standing still. Please execute at high speed Luke. You need to inject pace even if you are just going to pass it to the second receiverr.
3) All is not lost for this season. We could not have played worse in the match if we tried. Our completion rate was 71% and to the eye it looked worse than that.
4) Berry looked unbelievably rusty but he picked a good game to be rusty in.

I never thought I'd say this EVER but I wish Kosi was on the wing rather than Berry Centre(pomps wing) ...TT fullback or halves etc not a winger IMHO Young boys need more time and big ups to Bunty legend forward needs more time .. still think we have top 8 chance this season ..STORM a whole another level to the rest of the comp ..we missed walker as well ...

On the Metcalf point - I hear you. I noticed that too. But I’m a little bit more forgiving. I think he’s finding his feet and he was trying something tonight to be more of the game manager in moments. But agree it’s not what we need from him long term. He’s still young and didn’t need to look much further than his opposite 7 tonight to know that dropping that much pace and intent out of your game at times is not a path to lightning up an attack. Time and a place for the dinner suit. And that’s when you make the Dally Ms 😂
