firstly,
erin clark is buy of the year.
so stoked to see him matured and back here playing his best football.

secondly,
ugly all round from our boys.
the young bucks gave it everything, and there was a couple of highlights, but it was a shitty afternoon all round really.

fuck it, still looking NICE on the ladder.

roll the broncos next week and get back on track.

anyway, wish me luck. i’m off to delete another 700 beers.

We lost
But you know what
I feel more optimistic now than before the game and definitely before half time

Hope Webby takes a good hard look at who performed well in that game and who didn’t .

Also we need more a more expansive mindset and train how to turn and offload in the forwards. Storm showed us the rewards from doing it at will
When players make breaks we’re not there for the offload. Both Clark and Ali were standing for an eternity and we didn’t have anyone backing up. Gotta punish teams there like Melbourne did to us in the first half.

I was at the Vegas game as well as this one. I have to say that whilst the result seems just as discouraging, I think this performance was a million times better. At Vegas, it was obvious before the game that the team hadn't turned up physically against comparable opposition. In this one, the team never stopped trying but we were simply outclassed by the best attacking juggernaut of the decade. Look at what they did to Manly at 4pines the week prior. Our performance has to be viewed against that backdrop. I don't even think the Penrith 4 peat teams can match what we saw yesterday. They are ripping everyone's edge defence apart this year. Can't wait for the Dogs fans to eat some humble pie after getting the Melbourne treatment we just suffered.

Sure, our performance was below par. Dropping that much ball is asking for trouble against Melbourne and that 18-0 start after 20-25 minutes could have been avoided with more precise play. But going from 18 to 36-0 after losing Jacko to the bin was inevitable imo against this mob. They are just too deadly with a one man advantage. Nonetheless, outside the first 20, I really don't think we gave up which we did in Vegas. There are still many positives to take out of the game- Leka, Demitric and Ali being one. Mets starting to run the ball and showing some signs in shape another, even if poorly executed. Those blaming Mets for this game and arguing that TMM/Boyd would have done better are way off the mark in my view.

It's important to not overreact to this game. We can still beat most teams in this comp not named Melbourne with how we play. Stick to the process lads!

There is a clear confidence sitting on the bench - well get them on from the start I say. If you want to set the tone early, well it is no good having the dynamic guys on the bench

Unpopular opinion - I think what Webby is doing with Leka and Vaumunga is spot on.

Both are showing really great signs and are building, with both likely to see a bit more game time with Fish out.
I don't think either are doing enough to say you would replace then for anyone in the starting 13.

Leka has made 100m once this year (because he had a 70m break) and Vaimunga hasn't yet. Imo Webby's doing the right thing, letting the experienced players take the sting out of the match before giving these 2 a run. I think as the year goes on we'll see them get more game time, and will come on earlier or at different moments.

Let them build and continue to develop. 15-25 games this year figuring out their roles before they hit the ground running next year.
