They are a good side and it is good to watch what they can do at speed. Or how fast they can move the ball through the hands.

The pain today was how everything was coming off in the first half.

Tuaupiki goes for an intercept and they can catch it at speed and burst up field.

Even goal kicks that hit the post rebound in.
Storm always seem to get the rub of the green, it’s insane. I think guys like Bellamy, Bennett, and now Cleary (who’s doing it so well it probably explains his run over the storm) must be so good at setting the game interpretation pre game with referees and ref bosses, it’s the only way I can explain it.

I only caught second half and tbh I was impressed with our side.

Didn’t see the first, don’t plan on it, but if it was offloads killing us then that’s exactly what the raiders did to us so seems like it’s going to be a weakness

To win that game we needed a lot to go our way.

Losing JFH early didn't help.

Metcalf's try saving tackle was undone by a professional foul. After the head high crackdown I was expecting our first sin bin to be from a high tackle. Especially trying to contain a fast team. Thought it would be from a lazy arm trying to stop a break.
And that sin bin was rubbish - I mean he was 30 to 40 from the line and running the same line... absolute rubbish, only we get fouled for that

We beat Manly. Manly got smashed by Melbourne. We got smashed by Melbourne. Rugby league is starting to make a little more sense.

Yes we were poor in many areas of the game, but they were about 10 steps ahead of us and most of the league right now. Melbourne are belting most teams this year. Despite the scoreline, I didn't think we ever stopped having a crack. Winning the second half was a good morale boost that we aren't completely useless as a team.

Regarding injuries, maybe CNK being out is a blessing in disguise if it means Taine at the back. Kosi comes in at wing I would think. Bunty to start and maybe bring in Laban onto the bench due to the JFH injury.

Put this in the rear view mirror and move on to the Broncs game.

This match was always going to be tough.

After 3 wins it was going to be a good test to see where we are.

A close win in a tight game would have given a bit to be positive about. This loss is a bit of a concern as it still shows we can be blown apart. Also that both of our losses have been hidings.

They came back from the Raiders loss well. Let's hope they turn things around next week.

We lost
But you know what
I feel more optimistic now than before the game and definitely before half time

Hope Webby takes a good hard look at who performed well in that game and who didn’t .

Also we need more a more expansive mindset and train how to turn and offload in the forwards. Storm showed us the rewards from doing it at will
When players make breaks we’re not there for the offload. Both Clark and Ali were standing for an eternity and we didn’t have anyone backing up. Gotta punish teams there like Melbourne did to us in the first half.

Blocker is funny. He criticises us whenever we take the 2 points. We don't take the 2 points and he goes on about how we gave up a gift two points.

He's been against taking the 2 and criticises teams for being negative.

Probably had too many co-commentators telling teams to take the two.

It probably would have been good to take the early 2. Price in that semi years ago where Witt delayed putting the ball down got a lot of criticism for taking the 2. His justification was it got us on the board early and settled the guys down.

I can see why they decided against it as it was early ball in great field position. The problem was they rushed it and then were left chasing the Storm up field.

Yeah I expected CNK to be there a few times but never was. Even if he only played 41 mins, it's odd that he has so little involvement of 60 meters run. Felt like there was more connection with TT back as fullback for the 2nd half there.

I find the current stripping interpretations frustrating.

They need to find a definitive stripping action. Of course everyone looks like they are attempting to make a tackle. What will the coaches be telling them? make it look like you are making a tackle.

It seems like the coaches are step ahead of the officials at the moment.

Should have taken the 2, I believe.
Would have given a bit of confidence and they would have the ball back from kick off. Instead Melbourne score and warriors are rocked. Mind you Metcalfe had a poor night with goal kicking, which is a concern. Pompey kicked really well last year. Bit surprised he's not kicking this year.

If we had of taken the 2 then we get the ball back off kick off the momentum could have changed not saying we would have win but we would be on the front foot.

also, i hate to be negative and today was not a good one to measure by, but at what point do you play TMM at 7? metcalfe seemingly has all the potential in the world but were already at a quarter of the way through the season.

also, there’s no way metcalfe strings a few good seasons together and stays here.
TMM doesn’t want to leave.

Don't think TMM would have made the difference, he played well yesterday but not outstanding

I think the result was always known but it was really how we performed the 2025 Warriors ball. Hmmmm, not sure about that. However, in the 2nd half there was something to show and it was about the young guns who Webster really needs to consider starting with for a change.

Won the 2nd half. Yes, Hughes wasn’t there and they had a few others go off but thats an issue for the Storm and a little concerning. Sounds a bit like Shaun Johnson and the reliance on his attack for there to be strong attacking consistency.

Melbourne always gets out of the blocks super fast and we just couldn’t handle it once again. It’s clearly a mentality that this club just can’t get over.

We’re really starting to hurt with a weak backline. If only DWZ and RTS are there to offer some stability and attack.

I think we just move on from what was going to be 80% loss and 20% win.

Problem is that we have the Broncos who will likely follow the Melbourne strategy to close the Warriors out early. Question is what can we come up with.

I’d be happy for us to knock off a premiership heavyweight even if it’s a home.
