Social A Weighty Issue

The only problem I had was difficulty shitting
Because you were on a low fibre diet.
We are descended from millions of years of evolution. Our cave man ancestors ate plant seeds and the odd animal.
Those genes are still in us.
It wasn't until humans started farming, which was ecologically way afterwards in our development that we got onto dairy products and things like that.

Apparently introducing any carbs or sugars (much the same thing) can upset ketosis. I myself ended up adding homemade wheat bread to enable my bowel to function, and beyond a small weight gain I still felt great. But quality vege is probably even better.

It really depends on your needs. I wouldn't look at it purely as a weight loss tool but rather a detox of sorts. Like a reset of the body after years of abuse (at least in my case)
Did you try Metamucil for the shitting issue, a spoon of that a day has a dramatic effect on your bowel experience, it's a whole new world.

I tend to agree in hindsight

How does it effect the diet if you say ate 1 very high fibre vege. I assume it has some sugars in it which might change things? When you do this diet, is it more about keto or just not eating wheat? (I have never done atkins or keto before)
Non soluble fibre doesnt count towards carbs.

If this thread proves anything, there are literally dozens of ways to loss weight.... if you put one person who wanted to lose weight in front of ten nutritionists, they'll give that person ten different ways to lose weight. It doesn't mean they're alright or all wrong, it's their advice based on their opinion and experience. But what works will for one person may not necessarily work for you.

The thing is to find what suits you and stick with it.... and to have an exit strategy for when you're finished so you don't yoyo back. Our bodies are prewired for feast and famine.... when you diet, your body thinks there's a time of famine meaning we're predisposed to returning to the original weight because your body feels it needs to get ready for the next famine by feasting and building your reserves for the next famine.... and that energy is stored in fat.

You know this already? ;)
I know that Shayleen saw five different nutritionists who all offered her different reasons for her weight gain and five very different solutions…. and none of those worked. One nutritionist suggested it was only in her mind and wanted to get our doctor to put her on antidepressants. So yes, I don’t really have a lot of time with them.

It wasn’t until she saw a lymph specialist who diagnosed her with Lymphedema caused by her cancer and her treatments.

Like I said, find whatever works for you, and if that means using a nutritionist, that’s up to you.

I was agreeing with you Mike. i know the score mate. Antidepressants put on weight too, maybe not for everybody but I think most people.

Kiwifruit and passion fruit will do a natural job rather than metamucil
Kiwifruit has an enzyme that even tenderised steak. You can only have so much of it. It only turns you off it. I have eaten kiwifruit for years and I used to live on the stuff.

It is amazing how much your health improves when you lose weight.
It depends on the type of weight loss, is it muscle or fat?

Severe starvation diets can cause heart issues e.g. Karen Carpenter, Cass Elliott.
I know when I went on a commercial starvation diet my moods changed, fecking scary.

Ladies and jellybeans, my current progress..

My new diet prepared by my expensive dietician was working like clockwork.
I was easily taking off 1 kilogram a week, when the target was only 500gm.

I rarely felt hungry and was actually enjoying the food much better as well.

Then    I increased 500gms instead of losing it.

So WTF happened, what did I eat wrong?

I had stuck to her plan by the book.

Except, she was not selling me food, nor promoting any brands.

Before I had no go foods, like white rice and bread. She only made fruit a no go. Like no fruit, none, zilch nada:eek::eek:.

She changed that, and allowed me 5 toast slices of bread a day. I could swap one of those slices for half a cup of white rice.

That worked just fine except for one thing, she said to eat Vogels, but it was a suggestion, not written in stone. It had to be wholemeal though.

Last week, because there is a Bakers Delight near the shop where we get our fruit and veg, they don't stock Vogels.

So I bought a very healthy looking Cape Seed Loaf. It was scrummy. So I ate that for a week, and put on 500gm🤔🤔

So can I say for sure it was the different bread? No, but here are the nutritional facts.

100 gm of Vogels Toast bread has 214 calories.

100 gm of Cape seed loaf has 291 calories.

So I was eating 385 extra calories a day.

That is like eating an extra mince and cheese pie per day:eek:

Many people could eat that without any problem, but I cannot, luckily for me I found out before I went too far and put too much weight on again.

I forgot to mention my physical exercise.
That has been prescribed as well.
Actually the prescription has not been for more exercise, but a little different. Everybody is different, my issue is diet.

Vogels is just the best.
Bakers delight is a fair effort but…
We can even buy frozen vogels here on the gc
Well done on solving
