TeamList Preseason 2025 Trial 2 - Warriors vs Storm

I see that the fields are going to be shorter the same size as Aligant arena. That should help Martin get some extra kicking metres.
Your logic is sound

Only if Management bow to fan pressure. I think Cappy, Webby, Georgie and Robbo will all be on the same page and judge Webby realistically.
I hope so. I'd like him to have the luxury of time to see through a new generation. We have seen some forwards to come through, hopefully this year will the tale of some promising backs coming through in the next age below. A couple of astute Aussie signings coups will be key, but I'd like to see Webby safe for at least another 3 years.

It is a long-term build up with investment in young teens post-Covid. Stability is key within our whole organisation. Plus people want to play for him - that can't be underestimated.

Bit suprised seeing MGT so far down these team lists. Especially with the Ed Kosi Experince ahead of him.

Yeah he missed a bad tackle that led to a try in the Parra game, but so did half a dozen other blokes.

Was good in his first two games.
Ran 100+ metres in all three appearances, topped tackle busts in a couple.
He had a fair few errors in his last FG game which dropped him down the pecking order a bit, he's a great player though, strong and competitive, just needs to tidy up the errors, I think he also had a few risky plays he made which put us in a bad spot, if he sorted that out he'd likely be first drop backup.

I thought Sio Kali was a massive standout in the first trial, he had some good aggressive runs and looked pretty skillful.

Yeah he made a few really poor errors that one game, but I thought he showed that he has some pretty good skills as a centre and looked like he could be a great back up (which usually results in 10+ games a year for the Wahs) centre for us.

I mean, Kosi has had some absolute school boy errors in the past yet he gets given opportunity after opportunity, I hope we haven't chucked MGT on the scrap heap just yet

According to an RSS feed I saw Ed Kosi is not happy behind the scenes and believes within the NSW cup squad he should appointed into a mentorship position and has highlighted the need for the warriors to be a growth oriented club which is focused on internal player development. He feels he has a lot to give in this area. He believes he was rushed into the NRL too quickly including the Storm Anzac game and does not hold onto any responsibility for that outcome believing he should have not have been selected for that match in particular. He does not want the same outcome for other young players and he and his agent are looking into him standing as a player rep for NRLPA this year.

I was just blowing off steam.

Yeah thought so. In the future if you are going to try to use words like RSS, understand how it works first..

And probably would be a good idea to vent without fabricating bullshit and posting it online as if it is fact. Its not like this is your first occurrence either. Get a hobby if the warriors consumes you too much and it evidently impacts your mental health.

Sorry but making up shit to slander a player is just low life material. Feel free to dislike how he plays but making up elaborate stories is just really low. There is no excuse for that.

I won't do it again. But please be aware the whole forum is pissed off. Why does he keep getting selected. On the odd occassion I watch NSW Cup he screws the pooch there too with handing errors and errors.

Bizarre the club hasnt pushed that narrative via the media. Would give Webby some cover
Yeah.

Thing is though it is an extension of Websters personality/life philosophy to not use excuses (cue the Webster frequent sound bites about not blaming Refs and accepting responsibility).

We are in a rebuild. I do not see that as a negative thing. When you look at rebuilds objectively, and lay aside Warrior angst, every single club goes through them when the Chief play maker retires, when other key players age and slow down, when GLue type players like your Mannerings or Tohu Harris's retire.

The four best Warriors players of a rugby league cycle were here last season and have either gone or are on the wane.

SJ, best in a generation.

Harris, best ball playing forward in the generation. The best hands since Ali Lauitiiti, but could tackle, probably the greatest forward to ever pull on a Warriors jumper.

AFB best Prop of a generation.

Roger Tuivasa Sheck, best of an era, now aged and like Tohu diminishing.

Those are the most important guys in a RL team, the halfback, the fullback, the ball playing forward slash defensive rock, and the line breaking prop.

Take them out or have them on the decline without like for like new signings then you are in a rebuild.

Train spotters will point out we did get like for like with James F H replacing AFB.

While that is true, both top of their game, the Warriors are a special case, unlike the Roosters, or the Storm, who have enjoyed coaching stability, the new Star player coming to the Warriors is not the same as the new star joining those other outfits under coaching dynasty's like Bellamy and Robinson.

Which leads me to my core point about rebuilds. The Warriors are in constant rebuild because more than any club in living memory they have made the short sighted decision to sack more coaches than any club in existence.

This is why we are in constant rebuild and this is why it is absolutely critical that the Warriors ignore results and commit to Webster for six years minimum, absolutely minimum....because that would have given him time to have over seen our best sixteen year olds and bring them up in a stable system to eventually be a team with an age range in early to mid twenties in ninety percent of the run on side with years of playing together to threaten the comp.

The fact that this has not been tried since Cleary reinforces to me even more that the Warriors need to do a long term Webster commitment and suck it up till the young stars are all available for him to pick as men who have played grade together for five and more years together.

Ffs. The guy is a Warrior after all and he is one of us.
I am sure that he is trying his arse off and our recruitment process has let us down.
Not Kosi himself
Show some respect guys especially when not many of us have played up to FG NRL level if any.
Pisses me off when some of the biggest critics have never ever even played the game at any level.
Sure have your opinion but don't get out of your level

Here is more 50 50 call for you to see where you stand? Who do you back at 2nd row starter this year if your choice boiled down to Laban vs Niukore. Let's just put to the side that Demitric Vaimauga is starting at 2md row on the weekend's trial.
I wouldn’t be bringing in middle of the road players. All high paid premier superstars or home grown juniors.

I look at it more as Ford is blocking the path of a Laban. Nothing against Ford and he’s part of the team now but we shouldn’t need to bring in that journeyman level of player to plug gaps if our juniors are pushing through.

While Laban isn't the finished product, he certainly looks to be able to handle himself out there. Looks set for a good year!

Laban and JFH looked like the two fittest players on the park on the weekend.

Laban, JFH, and Dimitric were the only players to have a real spring in their step on the weekend.

He is a rare beast, a tall rangy very fit young poly forward, the rest looked fat compared to Laban out there.

He is gonna be one of the best defensive forwards this club has ever produced.
