I haven't really watched him play before apart from a few match highlight clips, but based on that performance Pasikala just seemed like a kid who's not quite ready for first grade yet and probably just needs to continue his growth in cup for a bit.
Like a deer in the headlights, he is way better than what we witnessed tonight

Positives
Healy Demitric Vaimauga Bunty Taine Cnk
Clark played a different game to his Titans role maybe Webster told him to keep it simple
Tmm -Tmm what did Webster tell him

Yep I had no expectations for 25 and tonight didn’t change it

Halasima and Ale I hope get a look in next week

I liked that Jett got a run and put some decent kicks in

Not worried about Fish
Barnett good

Yeah good comments on how Metcalf played hopefully he ll get better
Potentially Tmm is better than Boyd or Cht but maybe our problem is our attacking coach

Capewell must improve too
There’s plenty of young fellas waiting to pass him

Only a trial but
Attack coach - over to you

I wasn’t impressed with the halves combo of Metcalf and TMM tonight. It was pretty much Metcalf playing the SJ role with TMM invisible like he was with SJ. Was hopping to see that combo they had at the Tigers preseason game a couple years ago i.e ‘working together equally’, rather than ‘one overly dominant and one barely there’ half partners.

1 Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, was busy but struggled for timing and limped off…
2 Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, just what we need- our only genuine nrl wing goes down injured in the first few minutes of the first trial- curse of the warrior.
3 Ali Leistaua, didn’t see much action
4 Adam Pompey, likes early ball tmm likes to start deep and ball play late- might fit better next to cht?
18 Ed Kosi, farked if I know why they’re still preserving - it’s bizarre.
6 Te Maire Martin, hmmm talented player but unfortunately that’s what u get from him more often than not- I do wonder if leagues all that important to him- which is understandable given his history tbf.
7 Luke Metcalf, showed some good signs- short kicking game looked nervous- should get better from here.
8 James Fisher-Harris, intensity wasn’t at his usual level as u might expect in a trial from someone who’s played so many big games but still worked hard- his 1%ers were still there.
9 Wayde Egan, still worried every-time he makes a tackle.
10 Mitch Barnett, tough mf.
11 Jacob Laban, game didn’t really come to him.
12 Kurt Capewell, 5 years past his best- the speed (or lack there of) on that edge needs to be addressed.
13 Erin Clark looked like he struggled to fit into the game plan a bit but tried hard- on a bit of a hiding to nothing if people expect him to play like tohu.

14 Demitric Vaimauga, looked likely- need him in the 17
15 Marata Niukore, sorry but the muss is on massive overs
16 Moala Graham-Taufa, was hoping he’d see more action but not to be.
17 Sio Kali, didnt see much action- always looks classy to me though.
20 Luke Hanson, good experience for him
21 Jett Cleary, lots of pressure- overcooked that short drop out but who cares- good to see him back himself.
22 Taine Tuaupiki, tbh I didn’t see a first grader in him at Burleigh but he just keeps making every post a winner.
23 Daeon Amituanai, first time I e seen him and I was impressed.
24 Bunty Afoa, forgotten man- thought he played well.
25 Eddie Ieremia-Toeva, good experience him
26 Sam Healey, impressed- could force his way into the 17 if he’s not there already.
27 Dylan Walker, stand out.
28 Tanner Stowers-Smith, seems to get bigger every year- did he touch the ball?
29 Freddy Lussick, solid defence as expected
30 Motu Pasikala- I know he’s highly rated around here but I’m yet to see it- kali and Amituanai look the better prospects imo.

Pretty much this. And all the talk of a different game plan was just talk by the looks of it.. As you say it was exactly the same as with SJ but with a much poorer version of him. I'm beginning to wonder if AW actually can come up with a different plan that fits our players. Seems like it's the Panthers model which really only works for a select number of halfbacks.

Maybe it's too early to judge but it doesn't look good so far

Remember SJ was s*** in his ‘23 trial game and TMM was a horror show for the Maori game last year, so not worried about Capewell, maybe the body takes a while to adjust back

TMM should be 7 and Luke can do the kicking, hoping for him to get game time in trials at 7 for practice but they might end up having him as a permanent 7, which really doesn’t maximize the potential of our best two halves. Luke could be awesome if he can play like this at 6 and backing up around Egan and Demitric Vaimauga. And he is goalkicking too, it’s like let’s ultra invest in him to overload his homework to make up for lost times, until he does another freak injury.

I know it's only a trial, but TMM was very shades of 6 partnering SJ.

If that's what he's going to produce just put CHT in there when fit. You're going to get a lot more involvement from him in almost all facets.
TMM showed last year that he can produce at his best. Metcalf needed the keys to the team to drive them around. So a dominant or ball hogging TMM wouldn't have served any pre season purposes.

Pompey, Kosi, Capewell to Reggie’s for the year. Martin to Reggie’s as a 7 that left side looked like shit, waste no time and fix it now.
Fish is overrated he looks cool thou.
Kali looks like another cocky young stud which I like, we’ve been humble for far too long lol. So I’d give him a crack

I’ve been negative on Charnze lately but after watching the trial I thought he was awesome, but with no Berry I’d have charnze in the centres and Taine to the back.

I know its trial but that was worrying, and what’s the point of playing Kosi and Pompey nearly the whole game we know what they offer, see what the young boys can do

Team for Vegas

Tauapiki
Tuivasa-scheck
Leiataua
Nicoll-Klokstad
Kali
Harris-Tavita
Metcalf
Barnett
Egan
Fisher-Harris
Halasima
Niukore
