I did laugh at Healy looking frustrated when he came on. Throwing his hands around as it seemed no one was in position.

A few plays latter he did again and Metcalf got the 40/20.

Those first few plays he must have been wandering what he signed up for.
Healey has got to have a bench spot. Just a bit rough that he has only proven to play hooker.

I know it's only a trial, but TMM was very shades of 6 partnering SJ.

If that's what he's going to produce just put CHT in there when fit. You're going to get a lot more involvement from him in almost all facets.
I'm still a bit unsure as it takes a while to build that combination. It also felt a bit weird that TMM did not back himself this game at all, that try possible try he just threw to the wing being the main example. 1 error, 1 handling error, 1 missed tackle and 1 Ineffective. Don't know if making him 7 would cause him to suddenly become more confident.

ultimately it’s a trial. Barnett said it well that they were a bit jumpy at the start, but felt like we actually dominated the second 20. We also lost DWZ early, Barnett went off for a decent chunk too. This isn’t a sharks C team, they were missing some big name players sure but they had 9 players in the top 17 playing tonight, hardly a C team.

Highlights
- Healey has locked in a bench spot. Great runner of the footy, decent defender & passes better than lussick. Will bring speed off the bench
- Bunty might have snagged one too, he was busy on defence (as always), but actually had punch on attack too
- Metcalf is going to develop into a classy 7 if he can stay on the field. We’ve got the platform for him to excel
- Taine is an nrl player, he might’ve got himself a wing spot if DWZ is out for an extended period.
- Demitric Vaimauga will be huge for us as bench impact. Physically intimidating & a good work rate.
- Ali will be a handful this year and in the years to come

Lowlights
- Kosi isn’t a first grader. I feel for him, but he’s too big, too slow & has poor hands. His kick returns & PCM are high quality but the rest of the issues don’t outweigh this. It’s glaringly obvious we’re short back up wingers now.
- for such an experienced head, Capewell was poor. Multiple penalties, errors and missed tackles tonight. I like Capewell, but with the wicket he’s on, and the experience he has (which we need), he can’t have these types of games.
- still unsatisfied with niukores efforts. He’s a bench middle for me, so hopefully ford is good to go because Laban still needs cup to develop imo.
- TMM did nothing tonight. If he’s going to be in the side, he needs to create something otherwise it’ll be SJ 2.0 all over again with our predictable attack.
- Pompey is average. Not shit, but isn’t great on attack nor D, just bang average. It’s a shame berry might be out indefinitely, big loss.

Wrote more than I wanted to there, but I’m honestly just stoked the footys back on. It wasn’t great tonight but it also wasn’t terrible. I do think adding Roger & ford will help, and fingers crossed Rocco and DWZ are ok, DWZ especially.

Just the same I'd hate to see what they'd have done to us with their top 11 players back, Addin, Hynes, Mulitalo etc.

The main points for me in Metcalf has to stay fit for us to have a chance. Would actually like to see him at 7 and CHT at 6 in the next trial.

Walker is a 14. I don’t want him absorbing all the shit in the first 20 min. I want him fresh off the bench.

Which leads me to 13. I’m now convinced we need to move away from the “ball playing 13” and move Barnett there. Or Demitric Vaimauga

Healy 17.

Niukore can bounce

I mean we saw what happens last year when you hand him the 7, but that wasn't my point as Metcalf appears more rounded in that role. So not talking about moving him.

CHT is just the better 6 of the two.
