Just about that whole backline has played at fullback at one time or another. Only exception perhaps Leiataua?

Nek minit. Capewah and Marata in the centres. Laban on the wing. Freddy at prop. Leka at fullback. We are that type of team

I see what you’re saying, TMM could be back up fullback/five eighth and it keeps Tuaupiki on the wing whether injury forces changes and he can stay put on the wing

Imagine going in to Rd 1 with no CNK, Dallin, and no Rocco or Pompey....

Do we know whats going on with Pompey? Is he missing a few weeks or do we not know? I also questioned what the sitch is with Berry and have heard conflicting reports, some saying he could be back in a few weeks, some say he could be out all year? Surely there's a medium in between where theres a little more info?

I know what you mean but I’m hoping it’s TT to the wing as an indication he will play there in the early rounds. If he does it could be that Kevin Locke type graduation into the 1 as the season rolls on

Literally the only one in the backline with speed and natural creativity. Also loves a good tackle. I reckon worth a go in the trials

So much tampering with the positions is fine to a point. But why put TMM at fullback other than to get reps. Why not pull him off and let the juniors get reps.

So much more complex in the coaching group's minds than that of the observational fan.

You answered the mystery in your opening sentence. They will want to give the alternate to TMM plenty of halves time today and they will want TMM getting game fitness.

It can be annoying for us crystal ball gazers eh, but these coaches are not really using trials to decide on positions. Fans do that.

Coaches know already who they want where based off a game plan template, then some consideration is given to pre season training performance. But outside of that they already know who they want where and all things being equal (unless their preferred player really screws up) the trial games have no impact on who plays round one.

Pretty much a set team for the first six rounds with chances for one or two changes after that. The rest is injury enforced usually.

330pm kick off how good. Glad to not have one after 9pm. Indigenous all stars kicks off at 1010pm which is ridiculous considering the maori involvement.

Would have really loved to see a Boyd 7 LM 6 setup in the trials. Boyd's obviously pretty mid if the titans let him go, but on the upside that combo feels solid.

Like the changes but wondering why webster is doing these changes. Why name laban and demetric to start and bring in marata at last min? Demetric imo is a middle and shouldnt even be on the edge. Otherwise happy with the changes and gives us a chance to see cht at 5/8 with metcalf pairing and taine to solidify himself in the starting team, tmm gets an opportunity to show his broncos form at fb etc.
