NRL NRL 2025 General Recruitment Thread

Only concern I would have as a manly fan if they got Galvin would be Brooks at 7, which never worked with him at tigers. Was interesting the other Andrew Webster-journalist saying he reckons tigers make a play for Reynolds. They’ve got choices with Luai doing alright at halfback whether they go for another solid five eighth, or shift Luai back to five eighth and go for a solid halfback. Latu Fainu looks like a solid prospect too

Reynolds on 4 or 500k for a year or two, and only plays 12-15 games a year while Latu develops, gives them strong coverage over Origin when Luai is out could be a pretty big win for the Tigers.

Mason Teague off to the Knights from the Dolphins with immediate affect. Wonder who the Dolphins will try & bring in?
Also, just looking at the signings tracker & didn't realize Francis Manuleleua was in year 1 of 3 in Newcastle's Top 30

For a 19 year old with less than 50 games, we have heard a lot about Galvin's contract status the last few years. We were hearing last year when he had only just debuted.

Last year it seemed like a player debuting and the player/manager/family decided his contract status no longer matches where they percieve they are due to now playing first grade. This current sitaution with them saying not to even present the offer comes across as trying to create a situation where they get an early release.

I was watching a few videos about the Galvin situation. I think it was Denan Kemp bringing up how Galvin was upset they brought other halves (Siezer & Sullivan) as he was told he'd be playing first grade. Even with those two in the squad Benji still played Galvin. Obviously there is two halves in a team but the point still remains Galvin was getting plenty of game time.

There was also talk of him being upset that it is now Luai's team. Luai was contracted to move to the Tigers a year out so it wasn't a secred he was coming. He's also coming from a team that had won 4 premierships.

Even the argument about Benji's coaching. He hasn't got a lot to go on seeing as he is only 19. Even one of the clubs he's speculated to go to. The Eels have a rookie coach. Ryles has a lot of experience as an assistant but not as a head coach. A move to the Eels it would be hard to argue it is for development and not money.

He was asking for a release last year. Now they have been competitive, playing some good football, and playing well with Luai.

Think it was a trade scenario for Sebastian Su’a. He’s gone from knights to dolphins

It would be funny if the Titans back flipped on DCE.

Jokes about the past aside. The fact Hasler is there would make them a realistic option.
What happens if Hasler is sacked ? Would DCE still hand around?
Halves are like gold at the moment - the likes of TMM and Boyd have opportunities elsewhere if they choose to follow them.

Maybe I am late to the discussion, but it feels like Galvin is being used as a pawn here. He is being unfairly targeted for the nefarious tactics of his manager. Can't imagine the young kid actually thinks that Benji, the greatest attacking half of his generation, wouldn't be a great coach to lead him forward. I'd understand it more if the move being speculated is to Wayne at Souths or Bellamy at Melbourne but Parra? Their rookie coach was a forward in him playing days.

Galvin grew up supporting the Eels, and his initially requests last year were in order to play for them I believe.

If it is a boyhood dream then it is a bit more understandable than the "why the hell would he want to play for the shitty Eels" perspective.

I've always wondered how easy it is for a guy to switch allegiances. You whānau supporting a club is something you feel in your bones.
