SQUADS NAMED FOR 2024 TAURAHERE GAMES IN AUSTRALIA​

Forty-two rising rugby league stars based in Australia are proudly named in the New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) teams to face off against each other in a one-off match in Gold Coast, Australia this weekend.

Part of the recently relaunched Taurehere programme, the under 17 players from New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria will come together for a three-day camp, with former Kiwis Issac Luke, Brent Webb, Bronson Harrison, Matt Duffie and others involved as mentors.

Former Rugby League World Cup winners Stephen Kearney and Nathan Cayless are also involved, both part of the strategy to connect more Australian-based talent to their New Zealand heritage and the black jersey.

Love it if we can get him across. With all the injuries at the moment, he'd probably slot straight in at 6 if he wants to commit to us.

He is still only 22, so he might still have origin aspirations, but that would be years down the track and he would probably need some injuries to other guys for him to get in there, though.

To me that sounds like he’s gonnna be named in the squad.
He said he’d only play if Jerome went down but what if Jerome goes down in the first test?
Plus the bit about never turning down a kiwi jersey….
Im kinda in two minds about it but I think you’d be silly not to at least get him into camp.
