Interesting seeing Ponga decline playing for Australia to concentrate on his club footy for next season. Does he not want to represent Australia? They’ve packed a sad about it over there saying he should face disciplinary actions. Tohu Harris has been doing this for ages
Aussies have themselves to blame. They always treat the international game as an afterthought no wonder players do not want to play. But hey they have Origin to wank about.

The final for the Pacific Championship is on the 10th of November. For a winter sport the season is getting stretched out.

Those players would then get their mandatory time off and come back after Christmas. The pre-season then gets cut short depending on if the NRL want a 9s competition along with the trials which they are trying to add importance to.

A side effect of more internationals (games or amount of countries) is that more players have longer seasons.

I'm not surprised if players decide to pull out. It sounds like how he went about it wasn't the best or to some people's liking.

He can play QLD then NZ, just can't go the other way. And obviously gives up Origin if he does

Are you sure? Dylan Walker had to apply for an exemption to get into the Kiwis WC Squad, and even that was shut down.

Walker had played for the Kangaroos, not just Origin, so maybe that makes it different.

If there ever was a player that could make enough noise for them to open up the rules though, Ponga is probably that dude.

That's the difference, swapping Tier 1 nations is a different kettle of fish to playing SOO then Internationals (for the Kiwis).

Kiwis just made a post on Instagram with the Kiwis playing this weekends games.

Howarth was amongst them, perhaps the kiwis haven’t given up on him. You’d think they’d have a better idea of his intentions than most. He isn’t actually a kiwi yet after all. (Obviously he’s played kiwi A)

Personally I don’t think he’s going to pick the kiwis. Happy to be wrong though.

He will. Nelson will bully boy him into choosing the Kiwis
