This is year three for AW It is most definitely Cuddle's team and selections. Saying he is doing well with crap players is a bit of a stretch, this is the team he has signed and resigned. There doesn't appear to be much adaptability.
To be fair to Webster, losing your best forward AND captain AND your clear best half is going to derail many a team. I take a positive out of the fact that we have managed to cling on so long. This is all after losing Tohu Harris and Dylan Walker earlier than expected I may add.

Shows what a revelation Metcalf really was at halfback and across the park. He scored a great try following Capewell in a break just like last night earlier in the season. We lost our best attacking player when he got injured

And I don't think anyone is saying throw the ball out our ass every play either, but there is no doubt our attack has been clunky for the major of the season too. The Dolphins game was a nice change from that. Can we go back to that? Completions AND eyes up footy?
Looking at the the contracts, I feel 2026 is the start of Team Webby. Not making excuses, but theres a raft of players not being re-signed.

Yes, there are factors that have to be dealt with. Other teams do as well. However there are things in our control that we can change. Our attack has been clunky most of the season and if anything looks to be getting worse. Playing players with no rest or rotation when we know they need a break, like Egan for example. There are always going to be setbacks and challenges. I mean the Broncos lost their 6 and 7.
AW is a good coach, and we aren't going to get a better one. He does need to add some sprinkles to his Vanillaness though and mix it up a bit with the mix of conservative vs creative.

Watching other teams this year, it's clear what we're missing:
1. a consistent strike centre (we have 2 very good ones who are perpetually injured)
2. A pair of speedy wingers.
3. A 6 with more ceiling than CHT.

That said, we played a team last night who had those and we nearly won.

But if we had those, we'd be premiers IMO.

Just watched the replay this morning, kinda glad I wasn't able to see this live.

Sloppy as hell game for both sides with the errors, the Injuries, the bunker bunking it up, and just being a dire watch outside of the "best start in history".

Expectations for the home final decidedly low, oh well.

They also had variation in attack and structure to their play over and above hit it up one out for 5 and kick to the corner.

That means nothing, if there is a bit of doubt in their mind of course they are going to try to make sure they get it down a second time.
Fair enough, still would like to see where u saw the ball touch the ground from in the first effort tho.
U may not like trawling through videos but it is the bunkers job to and none of them show the ball being forced.....if anything its all the opposite.

not a "their all out to get us" conspiracist at all and im open to having my mind changed if i see evidence to the contrary.....from all the evidence i dont see how the bunker could award it......a disgraceful call imo.

I think this sumnarises it nicely

The Warriors enjoyed the greatest opening 10 seconds of any team in premiership history and scored on the fulltime buzzer at 4 Pines Park...unfortunately, the 79 minutes and 40 seconds or so in between were among the most putrid they have produced in 2025.

That was just unfortuante on that Capewell break.

At first i was wondering why he was on the wing then i remembered their policy is for the edge backrowers shifting to to the wing on early hit ups.
Roger had done the hit up in the middle of the park from which they spread the ball to Capewell so he was pretty much out of the play, then it required quick hands from both Chanel and Pompey to get it to Capewell who were both checked/tackled after passing which took them out of the frame tbh.....,.to be fair i honestly didnt think Capewell could run like that.....it was almost comical.

It might be unfair on CNK who plays a totally different game but a Walsh, Kini, or Weekes fullback are sniffing around most carries....im sure u wouldve seen one of them latch on that,

Last week when JAC went the length of the field and DWZ looked like he was treading water I think it was Capewell who came across, looking faster than our winger and stopped him going under the posts

That’s why I wonder about Metcalf at fullback? His speed is his strongest suit and follows the ball and ball carrier well. His kicking was solid and he really made a go of it after saying in preseason that he wanted to take the role on at halfback but it’s going to be interesting to see the direction with a few halves off contract end of next season?

The thing is that other teams are also throwing attacking shape and creating long range tries because the players are already there in support because of the shape, players are already in motion. The Capewell and the RTS previous week, even DWZ late in the game have been individual efforts and somewhat unexpected.

Lack of pace accentuates why we seem to lack attack. We can attack but no one to finish off. Pretty simple IMO.

I don't get all this talk about Metcalf to fullback. He was the best 7 in the comp before he was injured and had us sitting top 3. He was pretty much 100% of our attacking spark most of the time. He made other players in our team look good who we can clearly now see have massive deficiencies.

Also the defensive side of the game is completely different at fullback. Yes he can chase down players with speed but there is a lot more to it than that. He was also chasing players down when he was playing halfback. I could see him being injured more often playing fullback also.

For me if he has not lost his speed he goes to 6 when Jett comes into the team at 7. We look to phase CNK out over the next year or two when a better prospect comes along.

Still think we’ve shown some decent shape in previous weeks where we were stripping teams for numbers, even in the loss to the dolphins. That game had CNK at centre and I think he would have been better suited to go to centre last night than Halasima. Would have meant TMM to fullback, so it couldn’t have happened with TMM spelling Healey. Halasima did an admirable job though
