None of those lineup changes are going to happen. Webster values consistency in selection. He's shuffling as few players around as he can. I think it's clear why TMM is there: Normally we carry no backs cover on the bench because we know we can shuffle Capewell into centres and a forward into Capewell's spot. Because Capewell is STARTING as a back, we have no back cover unless we want to shuffle Leka into the centres, which Webster doesn't want to do, clearly (and correctly I think). I'm fairly sure he wants Leka — who is learning his game and position still — to remain on the edge week in week out. TMM might get a wee run to relieve CHT if CHT gives Egan a break at hooker. But apart from that TMM will pretty much be bench warming. Webster is not moving CNK out of FB unless he absolutely has to. CNK is doing just want Webster wants in that position: defence and early-set carries, and sometimes playing a part in some attacking shape in the opposition 10. TMM simply isn't part of Webster's plans except as cover. If we are a genuine threat this year, we put these guys to the sword today despite our outs.
Going to 7-2 and seeing the Broncos and Knights losing gives us a three win buffer in the top 4. That’s pretty amazing. Dogs v Raiders. cows v panthers and eagles v sharks all benefit us, esp if raiders panthers and eagles win!
Last year is a memory I want wiped. I never want to see us start so well and then get destroyed up front. This years time I think is a different beast and should pile the pressure on the dragons who have demonstrated weakness when the pressure comes in thick.
That said, I see starting line up changes. TMM will start at fullback - no point having him on the pine twiddling his thumbs. We need our forwards to beat their us so we need power.CNK into centre to shore up the right hand side defence and Pompey back to the left to support TT.
Marata back to Prop with Ford to bench and Capewell back to right Edge.
It’s about time we gave the Flanagan Supplement Corporation a flogging and buried them at home. These guys are grubby. I’m hopeful for a game like the Kinghts - we start well and don’t give them a sniff, never looking like losing.
Wahs to win by 13+, limiting the dragons to under 12 points. My prediction? 32-10 Wahs.
Game 2 on our extended roadtrip. Let’s eat.
