Where is all this excitement coming from? That performance in the weekend was the most impotent in recent memory.

Couple of things you notice when you rewatch the game

1. The dragons took our first punch and said “that’s it?” After that they just played harder and faster than us.

2. 99% of their PTB was faster than ours because Flanno has clearly coached them to cheat. I know AFB is guilty of it sometimes but I’ve never seen a whole team consciously take extra steps and not use their feet/ get to correct position as bad s this game. They know refs are not monitoring it this year so good on them for capitalising. Our guys on the other hand seem in slow motion every time they PTB. Something has to be done about this. Why are they so go damn slow?

3. We came expecting to win and when it unravelled we had no answers. “Everyone has a game plan until you get punched in the face” that’s what happened to us. Only one person congratulate SJ after our first try. Everyone else was already walking back to halfway. Nobody in our team thought this was going any other way except an easy win.

3. Everyone dumping on Montoya is a bit harsh. I’d be taking a cold hard look at TMM. He’s been super disappointing in all aspects since he’s replaced Metcalf.

4. RTS knows he doesn’t have to go full balls to wall every time he touches the ball right? He can just try and hit a hole or set up him his man for an overlap instead of left foot stepping a hundred times into defence. I heard dragons players yell out “left foot left foot” so many times and he still did the same thing. Bro needs to evolve.

5. Are we allergic to contesting bombs? Everyone loves berry I get but fuck me dead you can’t just be a NRL player based on kick chase effort. Fucking go up for the thing once in a while. Actually go for it every time, what’s the worst that can happen.

6. SJ lost us that game. can’t be fucked explaining but he didn’t adapt. He just kept doing the same fucking thing over and over expecting a different result. It’s like he buried his head in the sand and wanted to prove himself right. We had enough opportunities to score and he just didn’t pull the right strings.

7. Jack de bellend has the most confusing haircut in the NRL

You hit the nail on with the head with every comment, especially number 6, we kept doing the same thing over and over expecting something different and we couldn't adapt.

1. Agreed. Once they got on a roll either through dominant early carries or on the back of a penalty they we're rolling up the field with ease.....we didnt seem to have the energy to meet them. Successive hard fought games finally catching up with us but i thought also not using a full quota of bench players didnt help.

2, I think we struggled to handle the physicality of a team with powerful runners but we actually had the faster play the ball speed 3.28 secs to their 3.43

3, We just seemed very flat and unable to spark

3. Dont disagree with that, theres no space created that side for those outsides. They only ever get the ball with players on them yet we're expecting them to create something out of nothing

4. I think as in the same case with Montoya he's not being given options to do much else tbh

5. im neither here nor there on that, The strategy of sending a line up and making an opposition constantly work off there line is a good one and has by and large paid dividends for us.

6. I think Flanagan excellently drilled his defence on our multiple lead runners shape. They worked as a unit, no one was jumping out of the line, worked hard from the inside and jammed in when they had to. Agreed tho we did need to change up how our attack looked...needed the left to pose questions and offer a different shape.
We lost on defence tho, they we;re rolling up the field with ease and we dropped off tackles in the red zone -
- Berry misses 1 on 1 on Suli for their first try
- Montoya gets pushed off from Ravalawa after they spread to their right
- Ben Hunt goes through both Te Maire Martin and Wade Egan to score
- Straight after halftime Dragons set goes the length of the field and Lomax catches the bomb unopposed to score
- SJ drops the ball attacking their line, Sloane picks up goes the length, fends off DWZ who had actually made the ground on him

It was pretty soft D tbh, not just in the tries they scored when in nearly every case (except maybe the Lomax try) we had the oppertunity to stop it if the tackle was made, but also in the ease the Dragons were marching up the field.

7. Thats cause he's a dick.

Like webby said it was mostly bad tackling.
that's probably just a flat spot for us with how our draws been plus fatigue plus injuries.
great post
