Also pointless having refs in extra time when they aren’t going to call anything. Heard from multiple places that dolphins were so far offside for the dropped goal attempt. Just like the high and late contact in the bulldogs game
When the commentators say they were offside, you know the refs fucked up. Another case of the ref being too scared for the game to be decided by a penalty.

4:tries from his kicks tonight 🤔

Certainly kicking for distance is not a strength, though he does bring other assets to the play. He has also played predominantly 1 or 6 so hasn't needed to do a lot of kicking previously either. Don't forget he missed three years out of the game and is still to clock up 100 NRL games. I think Metcalf and TMM could compliment each other in the halves. The two of them have a lot of developing to do but I think they are our best option currently unless we manage to sign a better half from somewhere in the next 6 months.
Yeah I think his short kicking game is ok but as you mentioned kicking for distance is a weakness and he doesn't even seem to be considered an option when it comes to conversions or field goals. Often when a half can't do these sorts of things they make up for it by being a great running threat while still having some play making skills. I would say TMM has an ok running game but not one that fully compensates for those weaknesses, which leaves him with a very limited skill set for the position. Don't get me wrong, I think when he is on he utilises what he does have very well and admire him for that.

I get what you're saying about his time away from the game and it's a good point but I guess I still feel a bit surprised that given his access to coaching resources over the years he has played, and that he was never going to be one of the top running halves, he hasn't developed his kicking game a bit more yet has managed to be somewhat successful/effective anyway.

Doesn't really matter which way you look at it, it looks bad. For me, Barney is the initial person at fault, rushing out and getting done creating the gap through a staggered line. Its a bad miss by him IMO compounded by SIfa and Capewell...

The camera angle from behind our defensive line gave a good perspective look too

The annoying thing for me is that we had the momentum and fought back well just to ahve the break made through our two experienced SoO players side by side not working together. Im a little hesitant to lump it on a young guy who had had only a couple of games in first grade
100%. I put it on Barney and Capewell.

I don't know what is worse, how bad of a kicker CHT is in clutch moments or the fact that TMM is an even worse kicker.

We really need to find a long term halves partner for Metcalf.

What a shame that we have absolutely zero talent coming through. By the time Jack Thompson is ready Metcalf's already probably over how bad this team is.
I don't know. To me the club has stood by him through rehab three seasons now. I'd prefer he shows loyalty of I'm right about this

The reason we lost is not anything to do with CHT missing a couple of conversions or field goals.

32 points wins 99% of NRL games so the in-depth analysis should be over how the other team scored 34

And it can’t be overlooked that if the ref hadn’t given the phantom penalty against RTS we win in regular time

Outscoring them 6 tries to 5 usually wins you the game but let’s not overanalyse it… as you say, CHT did not win or lose us the game 🙄

Nothing to do with it…great the invisible half that has nothing to do with anything … 🤷🏻‍♂️

Capewell is at fault there, he's two metres behind the rest of the defensive line. Kaufusi takes the space at speed, Barnetts never going to make that tackle side on. Then Capewell doesn't put himself in front of Kaufusi which would've required a lateral movement of about a metre. Terrible effort at any level of the game.

You have talked about this rotation thing before and I agree. I seem to recall AW talking about it preseason and Egan was one of the names mentioned when he talked about finding ways to give certain players a rest from their workload. Yet here we are after round 23 and Lussick warms the bench. I do wonder if AW gets stuck with a narrow focus game to game and needs to pull back and take a wider view to check on whether he is actually doing some of the things that he knows should probably be happening.
It has some merit. For example Egan made over 40 tackles last night. That's a high defensive workload that can be deeper analysed but for the sake of the conversation say he's first tackler vs 3rd man in. The load increases in time, impact and cumulative effect. Then the guys who make most carries like Addin, Barney, CNK who have a high workload in that sense. Times that by 20 plus games per year and it can take its toll in the current shape of the game. Then there are the myriad of measures that contribute to the team and I suddenly feel great not being an actual coach.

There was just one charge from Sunday afternoon's matches, with Warriors forward Dylan Walker hit with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle charge.

The lock is facing a $1000 fine if he takes the early guilty plea or $1500 if he fights and loses at the judiciary.

fight it, lets see if they can prove it was anything more than a head clash.

Nothing for Farnsworth high shot on Nuikore?
