I really wonder the reason behind Webbys comment re Metcalfs availability. It's obviously horseshit about the 2 weeks of no training means you can't play.
- a real disharmony that needs time to heal. Is time the solution?
- He wants him to earn the teams respect by coming through cup?
- is it cause its vs the Dragons?
- Is Luke's headspace not good?

Any answer is obvious speculation, but safe to say he won't be play next week as Webby is already setting it up for that.

I must admit when Webster told the reporter that it is not a good idea to have a guy who isn't focused going into contact at training that my eyebrow twitched. The Journo took it hook line and Sinker. Webster is a shrewed bugger.

I mean come on, this is a guy who has played league all of his life, had 1000 trainings, he can still run with the side in unopposed drills etc.

Hey, but frankly, I don't give a shit when Webster uses spin, that is his job, to protect his players from external pressure. And his answer is clever because it kinda makes sense and may even be true if Metcalf is completely emotionally out of sorts (although we are being constantly told everything is good with Metcalf and his job at the Warriors - the point being it is the Warriors telling us that - nothing to see here - well you can't have it both ways).

Unfortunately we live in a world where the media vultures make mountains out of mole hills and make trouble and mischief where none exists - so keep spinning Webby.

My take is, that the reason Luke isn't training with the top side is that he is out of sorts and we are protecting him end of.

Incredible that we scored twice while down to 12 men. I wonder whether we should just play with 12 all the time :ROFLMAO:
Yeah just another reason why people rating this game a B don't understand Rugby League.

We won the battle of the sin bins, we won the square up.

We went up a gear when they attempted their notorious Broncos come back (the missing element from our game, imagine if we could run down leads like these teams that can).

We won the contact. We put forty two points on the Premiers at their home ground in magic round. We lost our kicker, lost our playmaker, lost our arguably best player.

We even began the game in a classic Australian style NRL arm wrestle between two NRL heavy weights and we won the wrestle.

We held them scoreless in the first half. Scored the first points after half time (which broke them) then we held them to two Try's in the second.

And our replacement 7 is stand off, someone who has spent a long time off the park.

Yeah B grade B grade, that's a solid B grade.

From my viewing I think Klein had a decent game. Certainly unbiased for any particular side.
My issue would be with Adam Gee in the bunker, who took it in himself to declare that CHT had touched the ball so no try (zero evidence on my TV) and initiated the ridiculous 10 in the bin for AKP, which was clearly a square up.

If anything Klein got concerned about awarding more penalties against the Bronx for genuine infringements and therefore undermined his own 'integrity'.
It’s hard to truely get an impartial view of the refs performance when you’re a fan of one of the teams.

From our perspective it did feel like the Broncs were on the receiving end a bit, not saying it wasn’t justified it was quite possibly just their own poor discipline.
On their end I thought the AKP penalty where the second effort put him into touch (which looked like his own doing) and the Taine hold after the break were lucky calls for us. Where Walsh had to go off for an HIA whereas Egan didn’t was a bit of an inconsistency.

For us thought they were lucky to escape a bin on the hip drop, we’re pretty quick to rule out the Ford try when they took an age to try and find a reason to award that broncos one and I did feel he peeled back the penalties a bit in the second half when their discipline didn’t particularly improve.

Overall I think we had the better side of the ref this week but the Broncos fan reaction (NSWRL conspiracy, matching the team off the field etc) was over the top particularly given historically how both teams have fared with officiating.
It is a bit of an insight into how we can react as a fan base when things don’t go our way. I hope this noise doesn’t get us a ref hammering though

Fact is in 2026 when we get our game on and are not giving up cheap turnovers, opposition teams have no other option but to infringe.
It is a good point and I get what you are saying, but for some nuance (not splitting hairs for the sake of it) they have a choice, and they choose the desperate option to pull sneaky slowing tactics - We do it too when we are on the back foot eh, but the reason I added that proviso about choice, is that Websters model is to try to avoid doing it period (and that is what is working for us).

The exceptions are when we have to risk a sin bin.

But overall, our choices are tilted heavily towards keeping it clean in our defensive sets, even when we are losing ground. Where the Broncos and others will muck around in the tackle in any part of the field, we tend to restrict that risk taking to when we are defending our red zone.
