his bench decision was just braindead, he swaps out Clark who should have stiffened up the middle and softhened the defence for 25 mins before bringing walker and Vaimauga on, like he did against the Sharks.... no he put Ford in the Frontrow to start and make metres, this no slight on Ford either but I dont give a shit if he can last 80 mins if you have no impact, thats why you have a bench, he would have been better suited starting where Niukore was and then bringing Nuikore on against a more tired defence, Im sure Ford would have done a way better job on that edge ... same shit decisions we saw from Webster as last year..... Webster better start pulling finger
Clark could give us speed in the middle also, it's just a really dumb decision to even play Ford in the 17, what is he doing that is more than anyone else?

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the perennial cellar dwellers, the tigers, leapfrog us like the bulldogs did last year

In fact, of the four teams below us on last year’s ladder, I can’t think of any that will be below us this year
Im feeling very 2022ish about the Warriors at the moment. I am struggling to care enough to get invested. I'm more interested in how a team like the tigers go this season. I just have this nagging bad feeling that we aren't going to play a good style of football to watch, we are going to struggle to be competitive and we aren't going to win many games. I actually am struggling to see who could be below us at the end of the season and prevent us from taking the spoon. I know it's only one game in but I really don't have any faith in the team or the coach to be able to fix this at the moment. This next round will tell us everything I think. The team is under fire and the good coaches use it to get a response from the players. Ricky Stuart would have his team absolutely firing in this situation. Let's see what we get in 10 days time.

You sound like you need a hug
We’ll be all right mate
Nothing is as ever as bad as it seems 🤞

I dont that will happen. His wagon is hitched to too many others at the club that it would create a jack knife effect from the field to the office. I thinks its in everyone's best interests to let him carry on and continue to plug holes, spin PR and make the most of any successes. I see him getting till at least Blueys round next season...
We all value your opinion @mt.wellington
Rather than evaluating his strengths and weaknesses right now which everyone has done in the last 20 pages - can you share your forecast or projection instead? Will he have an epiphany and wake up to be a good coach and will develop into the great coach we need.
"Does he have it?"

Mate Mt W isn’t Webby’s conscience ffs.

Correct. A very well credentialed NRL, Soo,Test player told me many years ago that if you as a team turn up to a game with anything less than 110% your in trouble
We are lacking fitness and that affects our intensity and concentration especially later in the halves.
Wow our intensity lifted when Fisher Harris arrived according to Webster.

They don't want to let Fish down.

How are not fit enough yet? Yikes.

Just my thoughts but we are lacking intensity and enthusiasm.
Could be our fitness is not up to nrl standard

Looking at Penrith they just keep coming in waves. Wave after wave
Relentless in attack and defense.
Scrambling defense and multiple runners and options in attack.
They give a "you know what"

They do it for each other.

Liam Martin said "we just keep turning up for each other."
We are a way off yet.

I think we are physically fit enough.
I think we as a collective are soft though. I 100% agree with your statement that we lack intensity and enthusiasm. We don't earn it. We want it given on a shiny gold plated Las Vegas neon lights hype filled platter.

I reached the same point in 2017 after the last game played in pouring rain and having to drive 2 hours home poking a fork in my eyes felt less painful. I gave up my season tickets and have never renewed. (Man I hated Keaney and Moses) Quite happy to watch on Sky (and a lot cheaper) and support from a distance as the management is way better than the Schurrah and Watson era.

He just needs to bring Walker back into the middle. Walker helps organise our attack in the middle. Either bring Ford or Niukore of the bench neither of our backrowers can play 80minutes.

Doesn't 2023 already answer your question whether he's a good coach or not? @Wrighty.

Just bought some wooden spoon insurance. $7 on TAB

This could be our year
Snap bro. I know it's only one game but at the moment I'm struggling to see which team will finish lower than us and save us. This is a real test for AW and he is going to have to make some tough (I think easy) calls or potentially face our first spoon.

My take on Webster / the coaches:

We seem to be picking generalists, or trying to slot players into roles they aren’t the best at.

E.gs
Metcalf (a 6)
Ford (an edge, or lock)
CHT (a 7)
Walker (should be on the field, at 13)
Barnett (a prop)
Tuaupiki (a FB)
RTS (a FB, but I’m ok with him at wing)
CNK (his form suggests he shouldn’t be at 1)

We should have specialists, in their chosen positions, so they can be great at what they are good at

I’m ok with a bit of improvisation, but there is far too much in our lineup. Particularly when you take into account our balance of youngsters vs vets
