Stacey is a drinking buddy of Mohawk so AW might have some reluctance to getting shot of him.=
Fire Agar and his hangars on, fire Stacey and his groupies too.
Doesn't make it right but hey..

Stacey jones coaching role seems to tie over with each new coach coming through.Webbys ok, it's others around him.
Matthew Ridge is right get rid of the old Boys and dead weights in the club, 20+ years it's been jobs for the boys. Where's the results?
The only one worthy was Ivan and we let him go...
Webby doesn't need to worry about being liked (He already is)
I've noticed he coaches similar to Ivan, not many changes during a game ... or initial team selection.
This works when those boys came through winning lower grades. And have jumped to 1st grade together... (Penrith development process)
We need to be patient but he needs to weed out the deadwood before the first crop of dev players hit 1st grade...
My verdict I think I am landing on is just accept this year will be a cluster fuck as Webster will back the wrong cattle (insert the names here of the people we all know) - but the good news is some of them, unless they sign an extension, finish with us this year in their contract.
I think ideally as part of his learning curve the media and management threaten his job this year to wake him up into making the hard calls.
As of today at least, and I am sure I will be fickle, I am in the give him 5 years camp. When I got promoted to lead complex projects it took me 5 years to become good. And had plenty of failures in the first few years. It is hard being a situation where every thing rides on you and the decisions to be made are very hard.
Websters decisions are very hard and one thing I think people are over looking is it is people's careers and livelihoods he has to decide with impacts those players families and their children.
Some people are saying fire Capewell into the sun....that is a big call that impacts Kurt himself as a person and his career and his retirement plans post football. It takes experience and a few decisions in both directions where some you get right and some you get wrong before you find the balance and the whole time people's lives are at stake. Not life and death but their careers and personal lives will be impacted.
Easy for us fans to say get rid of these 5 NRL veterans when there are loaded values and considerations in making those sorts of calls. Eventually I think he will get good at these hard calls. However a leopard doesn't change its spots so he will always be slow to make such decisions even after ten years. But he will change especially when the penny drops it is either they go or I go and then you will see some decisions.
Just to add to all of this decision inertia is reinforced with how many dudes and dudesses have to be informed and on board with each call including updates to sponsors in some calls. The organisational decision making stakeholders are many and introduce cumbersomeness in making decisions and disincent nimble decision making especially for a new coach. Although how long he can be called new will start to wear out this year since he has two years behind him.
Benji got spoon last year and he isn't under any pressure at all.I'm not opposed to giving him time but the pressure will become intense.
Especially if we do find ourselves in spoon contention
Why would you want to coach in the nrl when you have a permanent coaching gig in the NRL!Stacey jones coaching role seems to tie over with each new coach coming through.
Tigers were expected to get the spoon so no pressure on Benji. Plus now all the talk is new combinations, new players and the “rebuild” so Benji has zero pressure on him this season.Benji got spoon last year and he isn't under any pressure at all.
Not negging your point though - just giving colour context to it.
He is not going to. Coaches like him make their blue print in the off season and train thousands of reps to it. He is all chip in. If we lose a game he won't blame on the line up. Instead he will identify things that are coachable such as defensive attitude or controlling the wrestle or getting our shapes better on offence.I think everyone who follows the club have no intention of wanting to see AW being shown the door, but the old adage of ‘ if you always do what your’ve always done you will always get what you always got.’ Is ringing louder by the game.
Just try something new.
I think Taine playing on the wing is something outside of what he would do last season.I think everyone who follows the club have no intention of wanting to see AW being shown the door, but the old adage of ‘ if you always do what your’ve always done you will always get what you always got.’ Is ringing louder by the game.

Well the club should approach him and say... well, you coach the Kiwis now, how about focusing on them ... and get them winning on your watch. Just like Meninga does with the RoosStacey jones coaching role seems to tie over with each new coach coming through.
Correct. A very well credentialed NRL, Soo,Test player told me many years ago that if you as a team turn up to a game with anything less than 110% your in troubleWe hear it all the time. Boys trained really well. Didn’t see the arse whip coming. No idea why.
It begs the question - is training against tackle bags, cones and touch really the best way to train?
Game day intensity is 10X level up from the cones and tackle bags.
Are the boys being mentally prepared for war? Are they hardened and ready to do battle - because that is literally what happens on the field.
The players know this better than any of us fans. As should the coaching staff.
Are we breeding players with the mental toughness to hit a brick wall if they have to? How many of our squad do we think have that mental toughness to want it??? I’d say very few…
Is it this Aussie toughness we lack as a club? It begs the question
Is Webby willing and able to change to the dark side and give the team a Ricky Stuart, Geoff Toovey good old fashion spray? Or is he just too nice a guy that everyone likes??
Can he be an arsehole is my question
It feels like we don't have anyone that is able to offer critical analysis of where we are at. Or that person isn't being listened to. It seems like it's all the team are connected , this is great, we are doing good. Is anyone there pointing out the fairly obvious weaknesses and risks or do they just worry about who is going to carry the paddle? We hear it all the time. Boys trained really well. Didn’t see the arse whip coming. No idea why.

Just my thoughts but we are lacking intensity and enthusiasm.I still believe in Webby has fixable flaws he just doesn't have the right cattle around him at the moment players and especially coaches (who wouldn't get picked up elsewhere)
The club needs to send the team out to boot camps more often it's helped Melbourne and Penrith big time

Same thing is happening with AFC with local Auckland club teams. You would assume something like this is happening with the Warriors too?Got chatting with some Penrith fans sitting by us.
Most insightful bit was that Panthers development includes the coaches. They are bringing coaches in from Junior footy and educating them too.
That is epic, not only making them better coaches but obviously in the hopes they will feed better juniors through.
Old Man Cleary trains that in them and if you don't do it he gets in a new player! Niukore would never be picked because he does his run and then turns off!Just my thoughts but we are lacking intensity and enthusiasm.
Could be our fitness is not up to nrl standard
Looking at Penrith they just keep coming in waves. Wave after wave
Relentless in attack and defense.
Scrambling defense and multiple runners and options in attack.
Yeah mateOld Man Cleary trains that in them and if you don't do it he gets in a new player! Niukore would never be picked because he does his run and then turns off!
