I agree but Webster is apparently an up & coming coach from Aus so beginning to think NZ shouldn't even be in the comp
Webster is doing ok. Some weird decisions here and there aside. Assistant coaches to support him and coaches for the other grades from Australia I'm talking about. We seem heavily weighted to kiwis/ex warriors players now. We got the highly rated guy for the Woman's team. More please for the previously mentioned roles above

I'm fine with Webby. At the moment he's trying to squeeze orange juice out of some lemons in the halves/backline.

Over achieved last year, under achieved this year, big off season coming up.
Yep we are definitely somewhere in the middle

Last year was an easy draw and no injuries to our players. We didn't defeat any real contenders all year.

This year, injuries, age, and some coulda, shoulda games that we didn't have the quality to ice.

No need to panic, but I'd be disappointed if we can't recruit a couple of players that add value for next year. It is exciting to be one year closer to some of our young ones coming through.

Sifakula looks like a legit Alpha, put him with JFH wherever possible.

I'm expecting a couple players to move on during the off season. Hope we find something to come the other way.

don't be a dumb arse... this guy is a great coach, he's just to get the cattle... I'm convinced he's going to be there when we get our maiden premiership, next year or the one after
Jeez I love your positivity. What have you seen that proves he's a great coach & exactly what the Wahs need moving forward.
My coaching days were a few years ago & not nrl based but he just seems lost imho.

How does he seem lost?

Seems like we have a very simple game plan to get the most out of limited resources. It works fairly well in general play until our lack of speed, x-factor and finishing exposes us.

I kind of support this post with the simple game plan but the attack doesn't appear to be the issue (in regards to point scoring that is, it certainly looks out if sync and clunky at times). Today for example, we scored plenty of points. Once again it's our defence that let us down.

Be intriguing to know who our defence coach is this year. Chopping and changing the team each week through injury hasn't helped either

Not long ago Webster was the next Messiah.
i think this year will be an excellent lesson in flexible and lateral thinking for an otherwise rigid thinker.

webster will be better for it.

i also think we’ve had AFB and SJ leaving/drawn out retiring, have sucked a bit of energy out of the squad.
a few things go wrong. sprinkle in the usual fuckery from the referees, and a ton of injuries and our boys were on the back foot pretty early on.

once last years goodwill and momentum faded everyone realized this season was done and that’s why half of them look like the shit old days when players didn’t even want to be out there.

they’ll be better for it next year i reckon.

or hope, anyway.

Our need to be inside the opposition 20 is my biggest issue with our attack.

Dolphins were struggling for metres a lot this game but 3 long range tries....

It changes momentum so much and must be so mentally draining for our guys to know they can't fire back in that manner.

I do wonder if it contributes to our lack of consistency during games. It must be demoralising to dominate for long stretches just to see teams take a shortcut to points.

To be fair, the long range tries were from shit defence. That wasn't really happening last season from memory. I get the point though. We should have scored from a long range break ourselves with TMM putting Ali through. Ali has that x factor imo if he can sort his defence out. Kosi is barely depth, DWZ must be nearing liability factor, RTS has been a bust. Metcalf at 6 would help with the speed.

I got flak for suggesting that RTS should be made to fight for a centre position and come back thru Cup.
Just the same as I suggested that Metcalfs speed would be a big asset.

Based on our current roster, what result would you expect next year from a competent coach?
I personally think we would be very lucky to get into the 8. Forwards look good and some young promising ones coming through. Spine is not top 8. If Egan gets back to form that would help but our halves just do not inspire me for a full season. A decision needs to be made on our Fullback as with average halves having meter eating fullbacks like CNK and RTS just will not cut it. Taine may add spark but just has not had enough FG games. Our Centres look good especially if we can get Ali better on defense. Guy will be a top NRL Centre if he gets his D sorted.
